Govenment Censoring the Internet

If we let the government censor the internet, what's going to be next? The right of free speech? The right of bearing arms? The right of religious freedom? Our government has strayed so far away from what our founding fathers created this country on. But we should have expected it with the church and state separation. When the pledge didn't end with Amen anymore. When gun control got stricter. We've had warning signs Americans, we've just failed to do anything about it and now my dear Americans, you're making a world that I can't change when I can vote. You're making a world where I'll be telling my kids "I remember the time when this country was a free land". You better change it now before the government takes all of your voice. As a famous man once said, "And the truth is, there is something terribly wrong with this country, isn't there? Cruelty and injustice, intolerance and oppression. And where once you had the freedom to object, to think and speak as you saw fit, you now have censors and systems of surveillance coercing your conformity and soliciting your submission. How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror. I know why you did it. I know you were afraid. Who wouldn't be? War, terror, disease. There were a myriad of problems which conspired to corrupt your reason and rob you of your common sense. Fear got the best of you, and in your panic you turned to the now high chancellor, Adam Sutler. He promised you order, he promised you peace, and all he demanded in return was your silent, obedient consent." and this same man also said "People should not be afraid of their governments. Governments should be afraid of their people."

The American Government - Homework Assaignment

There are three branches of the US Government. You have the Executive Branch, Legislative Branch, and Judaical Branch. We have these three branches so that our government doesn't get too strong and powerful. The branches of the government use a check and balance system to make sure that each branch is doing everything right. Below I'm going to explain the different branches, who's in charge, and their power within the check and balance system.

The Executive Branch

The Executive Branch is the branch which holds the President, Vice President, and the President's Cabinate. The Executive Branch is in charge of enforcing the laws of America.

The president currently is Barak Obama, he was elected November 2008 and took office January 20th, 2009.

The Vice President is Joe Biden.

The cabinate of the President is the vice president and fifteen executive department heads.

These fifteen departments and heads are:

-Department of Defense, Secretary Robert M. Gates

-Department of Justice, Attorney General Eric H. Holder, Jr.

-Department of State, Secretary Hillary Rodham Clinton

-Department of the Treasury, Secretary Timothy F. Geithner

-Department of the Interior, Secretary Kenneth L. Salazar

-Department of Agriculture, Secretary Thomas J. Vilsack

-Department of Commerce, Secretary Gary F. Locke

-Department of Labor, Secretary Hilda L. Solis

-Department of Health and Human Services, Secretary Kathleen Sebelius

-Department of Housing and Urban Development, Secretary Shaun L.S. Donovan

-Department of Transportation, Secretary Ray LaHood

-Department of Energy, Secretary Steven Chu

-Department of Education, Secretary Arne Duncan

Checks and Balance of the Executive Branch

-Can veto laws

-Can call special sessions of Congress

-Can send messages to Congress

-Leader of his party

-Can nominate judges

-Can grant reprieves or pardons for Federal offenses

The Legislative Branch

The Legislative Branch is the branch that holds our House of Representatives and House of Senate. These two houses also make up Congress. The House of Representatives is controlled by the Speaker of the House, Majority Leader, and Minority Leader, while the Senate is controlled by the President of the Senate, Majority Leader, and Minority Leader.

The House of Representative

Speaker of the House is currently Nancy Pelosi, but since the House of Representatives is now controlled by the Republicans speculation thinks that John Boehner, currently the House Minority Leader, will become the Speaker of the House.

Majority Leader of the House is currently Steny Hoyer, but since the House is now controlled by the Republicans the new House Majority Leader is going to be Kirk Cox.

Minority Leader of the House is currently John Boehner, but the new House Minority Leader is speculated to be Nancy Pelosi.

The House of the Senate

President of the House is Vice President Joe Bieden

Majority Leader of the Senate was and will be Harry Reid.

Minority Leader of the House was and will be Mitch McConnell

Checks and Balance of the Legislative Branch

-Can override veto by two-thirds vote

-Can impeach officials

-Controls appropriations

-Can reorganize executive department

-Senate approves treaties

-Senate confirms appointments

-Can impeach judges

-Senate approves appointments

-Can increase or decrease number of judges

-Can regulate the jurisdiction of courts

The Judicial Branch

The Judical Branch is the branch that houses the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court is the highest court in America, it is run by one cheif justice and eight associate justices. Justices are appointed by the president of the United States of America and then are voted in by the Senate. Justice Elena Kagan is the 112th justice.

Elections!

Here I am bloggers, writing to you with less than 5 hours of sleep. Why you ask? Well I kind of stayed up to watch the results for both the MA elections and the CT elections, since I had two friends running and I wanted to know who would be governor. Well both of my friend lost, one lost by 1500 votes, which is close and my other friend lost by only 261 votes, another close race. The governor in CT, well is still undecided courtesy of Bridgeprt and the secretary of state  - - - Who orders 2,000 ballots for a town that have over 64,000 registered voters?! Anyways, I'm still waiting to hear about the governor in CT, but here in MA some times people just can't think when they vote!!!!!!! Deval has been reelected (why, I don't know), Polito lost (why, I still don't know!), McKenna lost (why? Maybe because he was running against Coakley). The three positives that happened last night between 9pm - 12:30am was that Senator Brewer was reelected and Representative Smola won AND The sales tax on Alcohol was voted down (I do not drink yet)!!!!! Oh, and the Republicans have taken over the house*!!!!


*Side note: We could have taken the senate also, if Reid didn't win in Nevada!

My Small New Little Library

Well I don’t know if you guys know, but we moved. Our house finally sold, and we moved. We moved to the smaller town (half the size), but it’s cute and I’ll live. The only thing that I’ll complain about is the library. I used to volunteer at my old library, but now, I’m volunteering at my new small library. We always said that our old library was small



but small just got a whole new meaning. I now volunteer there every week, and slowly I’m figuring out what’s going on and why they’re trying to close it. I sent a letter to the editor, because this library might be small, but it’s grown a lot within the past 5 years, and well it has a huge collection! I think that people just don’t see what it has to offer. For those reading this, go check out your public library, and go see what you can do, or what they offer. You’ll see its fun to go to the library.

Obama Wins Election

Well, it looks like Obama is coming out with the lead. Right now at 10:43pm, 207 electoral votes for Obama and 135 for McCain. My own state went with Obama. There are still six more states to close (Alaska, Hawaii, California, Washington, Oregon, and Idaho). The house is Dem for the next four years (again) 54 Democrats to 38 Republicans at 10:46pm. I might need to pull and all-nighter if the polls don’t work out.

“Will.I.Am” is on CNN right now via hologram it looks sooooooo cool. Too bad he is an Obama supporter (:(). I wish I could add an update as they come in but two problems; 1. I lost computer 2.I don’t have an account on blogger, to add me as an author for the blog, so I’ll just write it all down. California is closing in 5 in (11:00pm), so are the other 5 states (hmmmmm…….Let’s guess how Alaska is voting). If McCain wins, he would be the 20th Republican President, If Obama wins he would be the 30th(I think) Lawyer to become President. Virginia hasn’t gone Dem since L.B. Johnson (Obama won VA).

Just in, at 11:00pm Obama is elected president 297 electoral votes to McCain’s 139. This is CNN’S calculations, Alaska & Idaho went Republican, and the other 4 went Dem. Well now there is only one more issues to solve….Is he really the first African-American President? Obama in the beginning said he was not African-American, but once he wins he says he is African-American President….How does this work??? Life isn’t a One Way Street. It is exciting to have the first black president. Maybe next it will be a woman (C for President in 2028!). Obama will be sworn in Jan. 20th, 2009.

As I told my brother this morning “today will either be the best day, or the worst.” Seems like it is the worst. I hope people fight for the right to bear arms (I will be one of them), because Obama doesn’t believe in it. I hope Obama’s supporters enjoy their feast to night.

DON’T COMPLAIN!!!
