Nothing Like

Nothing like divorced grandparents.

Nothing like a drunk grandfather and his wife.

Nothing like hear you step-grandmother bash your grandmother.

Nothing like having to see Him for 4 hours.

Nothing like laughing and pretending you're okay.

Nothing like being the odd-balls out.

Nothing like knowing you can't wear your favorite bracelet around your grandmother now.

Nothing like my dysfunctional family.

This couldn't get worse if it tried

Here I am sitting at the West Warren Library, waiting for Mama to pick me up.

I was laid off from the horse barn, because of the financial times and what not. I absolutely understand what my boss is understanding, as her husband's company is the company my father works for. R dropped them, and everything is up in the air. Then an ex-employee went with a competitor and they all of a sudden want to pick up MM, which is a complete surprise, and if they do, than that's two companies that have dropped Y. Ontop of that she's having family problems, and her middle son is living at home do to legal problems. So, I was let go because they can't afford me.

I'm sad, as I will miss "my babies". Especially Sundance. No one understands him over there. His owner is afraid of him, his wife has her own horse. Her grandkids can't ride for crap. and jerk on his reins.

This Christmas season sucks already. I'm ready for it to be over. Ontop of that, at the library there are some things happening, that I can't speak of just in case someone I know reads this, and yeah. But I'm about ready to walk home from the library without a jacket to just cry and drink coffee.

Anyways, I'm done for this Christmas season. It may leave now. Right now. I'm done with it.

Sincerely,
Cae ♥

Happy Saint Patrick's Day!

6 things (about 4.75 pounds) of corned beef are cooking (one in Irish Red :) )

5 pounds of carrots peeled and chopped and ready to cook when the potatoes arrive.

Ingredidents assembled to make Aunt Florence's Irish Soda Bread :D

"Slice & butter while hot, close your eyes, and you'll think that you're in Auntie's kitchen" - Best way to eat Irish Soda Bread :D

Day so far? Busy beyond belief - - - Cooking for a homeless shelter on my father's favorite holiday, is not as easy as it seems!! I can't wait until Mum comes home to attempt to help me!

I'm wearing my ORANGE necklace, my GREEN bracelet & GREEN "I'm not Irish, kiss me anyways" shirt, and my toe nails are painted BLUE. For your information. Blue was the first color before green, and orange is what Irish Protestants wear.

Póg dom, tá mé Gaeilge! ♥

Hello 2011, Goodbye 2010

This weekend and holiday season has been very very very VERY busy!! I'm sitting her writing this blog post, tired beyond belief, because I just got back from babysitting. Yes, it's a little past midnight, but whatever ;) So I really need this key on my laptop, don't you think?

So I'm not like this, while I'm writing this blog post

Okay, so my weekend you ask?

We'll start on Wednesday, I was at work and finished working at 3:00. Mom then picked me up and we drove down to CT, so I can go to the Cheesecake Factory and see Yogi Bear in West Hartford with my old Girl Scout troop :) I got a Carlton Salad, without chicken, which was the best salad I've ever had! I had a Godiva Chocolate Cheesecake, which was really good also :) Now, our waitress was the slowest waitress known to man. We got seated around 11:45, and we didn't leave by 1:14 and we didn't even eat our cheesecake, we had to order it to go!

Yogi Bear, was the cutest movie ever! I absolutely loved it!! Having it in 3D was pretty awesome also, but I still don't like the whole fact of having to pay the extra $2 for 3D, but it was worth it!!

When I got home from the whole day with my troop, we had a respite for the weekend. Her name is N, and she's really awesome!

Friday!!!

New Years Eve, which in my mind means PARTAYYYYY!! Okay, so my party consisted of burning potstickers, drinking sparkaling cider, sitting above the garage watching Dick Clark's Rockin New Years Eve, and feel bad for not having a party to attend. Yeah, that's a nice wonderful night, don't ya think? Well N and I spent the night watching TV, talking, and drinking.

Yes I stayed up all night and accomplished it :D

Saturday aka today! The first day of 2011, I just want to state that I'm so glad that 2010 is over, my life all last year was an emotional rollercoaster, and man did I want to get off!!! So I had a babysitting job Saturday night to watched H, the cutest boy possible!! So I wathced him until 11pm and his parents gave me a car ride home, and now I'm writing this blog post practically asleep on the laptop.

The only thing that is keeping me up right now would be this (just infront of my laptop).

So good riddance to 2010 and hello 2011!!

Waking Mom and Dad Up

Every child dreams of getting up at the crack of dawn on Christmas morning, waking thier parents up, and then ripping open the presents! The 25 days before Christmas, the average child plots on how to wake their parents up, should it just be the simple "Mom, wake up" or should it be as compleax as making breakfast and bringing it up to them to wake them up!

Yesterday I topped every plan that a teenager could even plan on doing. Well on Christmas Eve, I stated that I wanted to open the presents up the second everyone was up, or when the first person was up! My mom said that it would be after eight, and I grumbled, but whatever. Dad then said "When you get up at 6:30, you can clean out the wood stove, start a fire in it, start the coffee, start the fire in the living room, and then start the bacon for breakfast. That should keep you busy until eight or nine." I grumbled again, what teen wants to do all of that? Being the nice daughter I am, and the fact that it was Christmas morning. I got up and started on the wood stove. I cleanned out the stove, and then I started the new one. Brought some wood in, and it was all good. I then started the coffee, that was easy, no big deal. Then came the building a fire in the living room. So I started on the fire in the living room, all was going well, and I was running ahead of schedule! It was only 7:45/8!! So I did everything, put the paper and cardboard under and around the wood, and light the paper. All of a sudden I noticed smoke coming, and I didn't think anything of it.

Well, not until the smoke alarm started blaring "WARNING SMOKE, WARNING SMOKE, EVACUATE, EVACUATE, WARNING SMOKE, EVACUATE" in my head I went "Oh crap! I forgot to open the flue" so I open the flue, the fire wasn't that big or that hot, so I quickly open the flue and started with all of the windows, then I realized that my parents are now up - - - Oops, there goes my plan of letting them sleep in. So Mom comes running down, the dog in tow (freaking out), and my father making his way slowly down. Well, we eventually got the whole fire alarm to stop blaring and waking the whole neighborhood up, and we started our Chrismtas morning!

Please note that this was not planned; Bro #1 stayed in his bed knowing that everything was alright; and Cathy, from the foster company we work with. said we had to test the smoke alarms, so I did it for her :)

All in all, that is the best way to wake your parents up on Christmas morning :)

December 32nd

If you could add another day what would you do?
If we took all of the 31st out of the year, and put them all together, what would you do - -No Taxes, no work, a free week, what would you do?

This comes to my family as we were discussing how the year repeats itself, so come the next leap year, I will not celebrate February 28th, I will celebrate December 32nd or January -1st, don't know which one.

Daddy

A couple months ago, Mom was reading one of her homeschooling sites and a comment came up from a mother stating that her husband works a lot and is very rarely home, and that her daughter (around my age) misses him and she was looking for help. I looked at Mom and said "Tell her to suck it up! I've lived with it for most of my life, she can live with it also! Or tell her to make a pillow from old jeans from her father." Mom laughed and she understood my reaction. My father is very work oriented, I have been accustomed to not seeing him in the audience at a play, or sitting in the pew for my confirmation. I used to attempt to figure why he would be in FL instead of CT for my birthday, or why he would be in SD at a meeting instead of watching me get confirmed, or why he would be somewhere in New England while I had a lead role or a solo in a performance of mine. I've finally come to peace with this, I no longer care. I know that it would be nice to have my father there watching me and clapping for me, but there are times that he needs to be somewhere, and a lot of these times are important and if he didn't go it could cost him his job.

My father most recently missed my confirmation, he had to be in SD for work. I can't really be mad at him, but it does make me wish that he was sitting in the pew next to Mom, but I guess you can't have everything. I have to say Dad has missed some important things in both my life and Bro #1's life. Dad felt bad for not being able to see me get confirmed, but I told him he's finally even. He missed Bro #1's baptism, so he can miss my confirmation.

As I get older I learn that although I would want me father with me, but if he isn't there in person, he's always there in spirit.

Prime Rib Dinner Take Two!

Well it's the morning after the Prime Rib Dinner, and well it went so well last night! Everyone came over once Mass let out, then our violinist/fiddler for the night made his way over and was ready to play once he was fed! The atmosphere was great, people were spedning their money on the autographed books, the raffles we had going, and drinks! Even though I wasn't a server this year, I got the next best thing. I was the greeter, and although I compleatly freak out when the first person shows up, by the third I'm having fun, it's really nice.

I have to say, the whole night was really nice, even though I wasn't a server. I actually prefer not being a server, because I was able to walk around and stop at tables and see how they were enjoying thier night, instead of running all over the place! Well check out the slideshow above to see just really how much fun it was!

Playing Games and a Puzzling Flashback Friday

Go and do your own Flashback Friday! Go to Linda's Blog, yeah that's right click the blue linky things within this scentence! Go! This weeks Flashback Friday prompt:
Did you play many games when you were growing up? What were they? (Include outside games as well as board & card games.) Who did you generally play with? Did your entire family play games or just the kids? Were there any traditional games your family always played? What were your favorites? Are they still around today? What about puzzles? Was that a popular pastime at your house? Were puzzles saved for holidays or did you do them any time? Were they set out for anyone to work or just one person?

Games, well the memory that really sticks out, was a day when Mom and I came home from something around 5:00, we came home in the middle of a pretty bad thunder storm, and when we got home we had electricty for maybe 10 seconds and then it went out. We waited for it to go back on as we grabbed the candles, propane camping grill thing, flashlights, and matches. Once everything was assembles, we light the candels around the dinning room table, we had about 5ish candles going on the table, which produced enough light and a couple candles in the kitchen. When the power didn't come back on in a hour, and I was getting tired from reading my book, I asked Mom if we could play a game, she said yes. So we got, I think it Monoply but it could have been Life, a game out and the four of us, Dad, Mom, me, and Bro #1 gathered around the table organizing the candles so we can all see our pieces and our money, but at the same time see the board. The power came back on, about five minutes after we've finished the game.

Playing board games with the family is mainly a Mom, Bro #1, and I thing. Dad doesn't like board games that much, I don't know why, but he hates them. He'll play dominos and card games (only Rummy 500 most of the time). We attempted to have game nights as a family, but they didn't really work that well because of all of our schedules and Dad couldn't gaurentee that he would be home for dinner every Friday night, or whatever night that we wanted to have the family game night.

Mom loves to do puzzles, I think they're a waste of time when you get past that 2 hour mark on a 1000 pice puzzle, like honestly you have just used 2 hours of your life getting absolutely nowhere in this puzzle, while you could have been doing work or something. I guess I don't have any of the patients for a puzzle, but at least I admit to it! I'll try to work on a puzzle once in a while, but doin't expect me grabbing a  puzzle when I'm bored, because in five minutes it might be 1000 puzzle piece pick up!

Review: World Trade Center

9/11 marks a day on everyone's calendar, or at least on mine. It's usually a day of remembrance and a moment of silence for when the first tower was hit. By September 11th, 2001 my family was with my grandmother, who had cancer, more then anything. She would die one month late. World Trade Center is a fiction movie, based off of the events. I was a little concerned on how accurate it would actually be, but it was accurate, and scary to realize how well the film portrayed the country on 9/11. I will recommend a box of tissues, but this movie is a must see, this movie will help you remember what happened on that blue, blue sky of a day.

After the Twin Towers were hit, New York City officials decided to make a memorial to all who were lost, it is supposed to be opened in 2010, to check out the website go to Wtc.com.

God Bless

New England Assosication of Fire Cheifs 2010!

Okay, my dad sells fire trucks for Rosenbauer America, and every summer there is a fire truck show in New England for the fire truck. So yesterday dad, Bro #1, Bro #2, and I all went and helped set up the show for dad's company. We all met at dad's work and rode in different vehicles down to the Better Living building at the Big E over in West Springfield, MA. The show actually just opened up today, but set up is a lot of waxing of trucks and cleaning of trucks and organizing, so most vendors had to set up yesterday. I have to say, the show is amazing, and yes I helped clean eight trucks, but that just makes it more fun! I actually found my baby, the most amazing new fire truck that Rosenbauer carries, and of course I rode down in the North Brookfield fire truck. Can you say awesome? Well I'll be at the show this weekend helping my father out, but if your in the area come stop by and check out the show it's really fun!

My really awesome fire truck, which I will be getting for my touch-a-truck!!

North Brookfield's really awesome fire truck!!!

Five Reasons to Have Kids

So mom and I were talking about kids, and I have stated that I don't want any. . .Too many blood tests in my eyes, well mom then tells me that I have to clean the kitty litter (blech), soooo I come upstairs and go "Mom, I'm going to have kids!" so she goes, "Why? To clean the kitty litter?" she asks. I looked at her and said "Yes,". "Well, the KiDDy Litter is worse than the KiTTy litter," Mom said. So now I'm going to place a wanted ad in the paper stating "Wanted a person who won't mind cleanning kitty litter or kiddy litter, call (###) ###-#### for more information". Either that or my Italian husband will be doing all of that. So as I finished the conversation I go "In conclusion, that is why I think having kids is useful, Professor". So mom goes "Five Reasons to Have Kids", thus how the title comes, and there will be a list with five reasons to have kids!

Five Reasons to Have Kids!
1. To Clean the Kitty Litter!
2. They are just sooo cute, especially when they're babies!
3.To clean the dishes, maybe I won't get a dishwasher, its too much money ;)
4. An excuse to go to Starbucks, you always need caffeine when you're a parent
5. And they're a tax write-off, maybe I will be getting a dishwasher ;)

Lots of Love,
Cae ♥

Facebook Update & Family Update

They're finally off! The painful three, or maybe four years of braces is finally complete! Thank God, okay so I have to wear a retainer, but it isn't that bad and only at night, but they're done. Over, no more metal visible! It feel so weird to not have any braces on my mouth. Bro #1 says, that I look like the Doggie Denture commercial without my braces on.

Also, the next couple months the blog picture will be used from my cousins Tea Room. She is just amazing, and has recently opened her own business up in Cromwell, CT! Peggi is just so nice, and is working on her dream! Mom and I stopped by Tea Roses Tea Room the other day, and it is amazing! Congrats Peggi, we're so happy for you!!

Facebook Update

So, Bro #1 and I watched Chicken Little last night and we decided to recap the whole movie in the car ride home from rehearsal tonight. Bro #1 is very quite, but he managed to explain the whole 1 1/2 hour movie in 35 minutes, taking very little breaths. Awesome little brother? I think so!

Guess what movie, mom will be listening to on the ride down to CT? Chicken Little, baby!!!!

"Can I Have My Buns Toasted"

I have to say, this is another Fostering related blog post, but it's a good one. Since Bro #2 has been in the family, Bro #1 and I have become a lot closer, before I was kind of a jerk to him, and Bro #2 has made the two of unite, because we really do need to learn on each other. Mom has dad, and Bro #1 has me. Now don't get me wrong Bro #1 still bugs me to earth's extent! But I guess I am a little bit nicer to Bro #1 then I usually am. For instance Bro #1 had to come to the library board meeting with me & mom, and although he was bugging me, he and I were both laughing. He is actually making me lunch currently, we're having cheese burgers. So I asked him if I could have my buns toasted. The look on his face was getting ready to say something, I quickly added "the ones made out of bread". He then said okay and went out to start the grill.

Even though we have out tough days being a foster family like yesterday, we also have our really good days like today and last night (Bro #2 helped me finish painting my bedroom, and apologized!). I have to say being a foster family has changed not only me, but also my family :)

Nomar Garciaparra

Nomar Garciaparra the Shot Stop for the Boston Red Sox retired today at 7:00. Nomar was (and still is) my favorite Red Sox player! Nomar is also my first Red Sox jersey that I owned!

Nomar is still my favorite and this post is dedicated to all the hardwork that he has put in!

Cae ♥

P.S. He signed a 3 day contract this year with the Red Sox, so he retired with the Red Sox being the last team he ever played for.

Blessings in my Life

"Cae is blessed with such an amazing boss! You know she's amazing when you walk into work and you see that the holds are taken care of, the books are checked in, the DVDs and CDs are put away in their case, all the items that needed to be shelved were all organized, and there were smileys on my to-do lists :) Susan is such a blessing to me and it's a blessing to have her in my life! ♥"

So I walked into work today ready for finding about 15 holds, to unload the inter-library loan boxes, to empty the drop box, to shelve a bunch of stuff, and to do whatever my boss left me to do since I passed her on my way to work. But when I walked in all I saw was a stack of books all organized and the computers all turned on. My boss did my work! Mrs. T is a huge blessing in my life, and although she's having a rough time finding a phlebotomy job, she works wonders at the library! I don't know where my library would be without her!! So I designated my Facebook Status, Deviant Art, and Blog to her. Because she is a blessing to me and in my life! She is proof that God puts people in your life for a reason!

Love you bunches Mrs. T!

Cherish the Moment's

This weeks Flashback Friday from Mocha with Linda kind of surprised me (a good surprise Linda) because I just finished writing an article about how cancer has touched my life, so this week the Flashback should be really good. ☺

"How old were you (approximately) when you attended your first funeral? Did your parents shield you from death and grief or was it viewed as a natural part of life? Did you experience any significant loss(es) in your growing up years? What were your early impressions of death and dying? And while I do not intend this in any irreverent way, are there any amusing memories associated with a death or funeral? If you have kids, how have you handled this subject with them? Feel free to share as vulnerably or as shallowly as you want!"

My first funeral was in the end of 2001/early 2002 (I don't remember) it was for my grandmother, who passed away in October 2001 from Esophageal Cancer. My mom didn't really want me to go to her funeral, but I still went. When I was at the funeral itself, I was fine for the beginning, until people started talking about how great my grandmother was, and then I lost it. Mom and my aunt were trying comfort me throughout the whole funeral, it didn't really work. Once the funeral was all done, and the after party was done it was kind of quite, but we had my grandmother cremated (her wishes) and she wanted to be dumped at Hawks Nest Beach in Old Lyme, CT. So we then went to Hawk's Nest in April-ish, Garvin was good enough to not only allow us to spread my grandmother's ashes, but also let us use one of his boats, and he drove us out in the water. While we were in the sound, we all grabbed a flower (I grabbed grandma's favorite just by fluke)

I grabbed a Baby's Breath, when we made it to the area in which my grandmother wanted to be dumped (okay, I can't think of a better word!) my grandfather and mother dumped her ashes and everyone threw their flowers into the water. The boat ride wasn't as bad, because my family has a cottage with it.

I knew that she would always be with me whenever I swim in the sound during the summer.

November 2007, my great-grandmother, aka Grammie fell down her stairs in Florida, and couldn't get up. She was found the next day by a friend who visits daily. Grammie had multiple broken bones, and was in the hospital for a while. She died Thanksgiving night, we had her funeral was up in CT, and was a very small family funeral.

As a kid, especially after my grandmother died, I thought everyone lost the battle with cancer, and that death was always following you around. I missed my grandmother deeply after she died for a good couple months. I've finally have come to peace with death, it's still in my life, and I'll still grieve every time someone close to me dies, but I will also continue living my life.

Now that was the flashback, check out how cancer has affected my life, with the article that I've written.

Don't Give Up!

There are many different types of cancer (and different ways to cause cancer). There is Esophageal Cancer, Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma, Breast Cancer, and Medulloblastoma, just to name a few. Living with cancer in your life is hard, even if you aren’t the one who is diagnosed with it. June 2001 my grandmother, Linda, was diagnosed with Esophageal Cancer.

In August 2001 Linda had to have a feeding tube placed. Alan a family friend who was also battling cancer at the age of 8 and also had a feeding tube, came to her hospital room and showed her how to use, clean, and care for her feeding tube. When Alan showed my grandmother how to do this, it gave us all a little bit of hope, and also put Alan in a special place in my heart. The last bite of solid food my grandmother ate was in October 2001. I made her a batch of Pillsbury slice-n-bake cookies (our signature dish). She had one bite and hid the rest from me. Because she didn’t want me to see that she couldn’t eat a whole cookie, but also wanted to show me that she loved the thought. I didn’t learn that she hid the cookie until a couple years ago, although it made me realize how bad cancer has affect her, it also made me realize that she loved me then, loves me still and it watching over me today.

My grandmother died a couple weeks later in her bedroom, after we just received a call from her brother, saying he couldn’t make it home in time. Friends and family were in the house and were with her during her last days. When my grandmother died, not only did I lose my grandmother, but I also lost a close friend. My grandmother was also the first person in my life that I have lost, and with the close connection between us was very hard on me. I still think of her constantly.

My best friend’s mom, Shirley, was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's B Cell Lymphoma in 2003. It was hard on my friend, but it was also hard on me, because Shirley was like a second mother to me, and after just losing my grandmother a couple years before cancer was still fresh in my life. I also knew what my friend was going through, so I was always there for her, if she ever needed me. In 2004 my family went down to Florida, and were then surprised to be getting a call learning that Shirley had finished her chemo and wanted to celebrate it with us and go on a canoe trip. Shirley and her family made their way down to Florida and met up with us. We spent about a week celebrating Shirley ending Chemo. Knowing that Shirley won made me realize that you can win the battle against cancer, and not everyone dies.

I have never had cancer myself, but it has been in my life enough. Unfortunately I can name others who have both won and lost the battle. It’s hard for the person who is battling cancer, but it’s also hard on the friends and family of that person. When I lost my grandmother, I was six and didn’t really understand cancer but I knew how hard it is to live your life, but also care for the person with cancer. Now, unfortunately, I know what cancer is and what it does to a person and can do to their family. I, also, know that cancer can bring feelings of sadness, happiness, hopefulness, and sometimes grief. The most important thing that I learned with having cancer in my life is Cherish the moments you have, because you don’t know when they’ll be gone.

April 19-20, 2009 to April 19-20, 2010

Since I moved a year ago, I figured I would write a comparison of April 19-20. The two days that when I moved.

~.:April 19, 2009:.~
I woke up early, sat up on my mattress (my bed's in storage). Today mom is going to give the sermon today at church. I grabbed a pair of jeans, my dark blue & white stripped shirt, and my hot pink wedge heals out of the blue travel duffel bag. We left for church at 9:15. I wasn't singing in the choir today, because I knew I was going to cry, so I sat next to Jill instead. I waited in the narthex for Squid. I was always asked about the house, if I liked it, and if I wanted to move from people who knew my family. Squid never showed, so around 9:50 I walked over to the pew next to the organ. i sat on the red pew cushion, and waited for Jill. I kept my composure, until my mom went up and started her sermon.

"People use the phrase bittersweet to explain such a time of change in one’s life, but perhaps for us it is a little more bitter than sweet. But such a move is just another part of our faith journey." My mom said. Jill gave me a tissue then said "Cae, look at the congregation. . .They're crying. Cae, your dad is crying."

"Jill, my dad doesn't cry, he never cries," I said as I looked, sure enough some of the members of the congregation were crying. I looked across the church and looked up to the balcony. Sure enough my dad was crying, I lost all of my composure when I saw my dad crying, he never shows emotions. After church Erika took some photos of the family with Jill & Elven, the As, and the Ts.

We were just about to leave at 12 when mom said she needed to head to the market. She went over and saw Mrs. A (Squid Moms). Squid was with Mrs. A, so she and I hugged and cried in front of the church. "Cae, don't cry, because then I'll cry" Squid said as I cried and hugged. "Too late" I said as we hugged. "I'm going to miss you" I said as we hugged more. Finally when we were semi-composed we said goody. Once back home, I was sad, but as mom said "bittersweet"

~.:April 20, 2009:.~
I got dressed, pulled out jeans, hot pink wedge heals, My blue v cut short sleeve shirt, and my pink University of Hartford sweatshirt. Mr. Dattilo (our Realtor) came to the house around 8:00 as we were trying to pack the vehicles up and find our cat. At 11:00 the house was completely empty, well except for one basket and our cat. Just as we left the home owners pulled in to do a last walk through. We drove to Perk on main, to have a visit with Erika & her mom. Squid left a gift for me, since she had a horseback riding lesson. I opened my first and it was a pair of lounging pants with the towns name on the left pant leg. After mom and I went back to our house, to see that Bandit (our cat) came out, so mom got the cat and I changed into my new pants. We made it up to Massachusetts by 1:00 we had my grandfather follow us up, with stuff in his car. When we pulled into the driveway my new next door neighbor came over with her mom.
"Hi, I'm Meagan," Megan said "Hi, I'm Cae" I responded I just stood. Meagan and I talked until Meagan's mom said that they should let us unpack. Once I knew that there was a girl my age next door to us, I knew that we moved to the right place.

My hair was in two braid from last night. I took the braids out, and my hair was immediately wavy. I found a pair of jeans, my 3/4 sleeve shirt, and a pair of flip flops. I had work today until 5. It was also Patriot's Day (the day that messed up the whole house buying process up here), so it was a slow day at the library. I spent the day doing stuff I loved, reading, writing, cooking, and watching Survivor! I went for a long walk down my street, realizing what I gained up here in Massachusetts.

I woke up and dug around my closet for a pair of jeans, and a tee-shirt. Once those were found I went and took a shower. I got dressed and quickly braided my wet hair, and walked downstairs. Today is a boring day, not doing much of anything. I went on another long walk down my road, just thinking about moving and that since moving here, it was a really good thing for me, and that since moving I've been able to do much more things than, when I lived in Connecticut. I spent the rest of the day reading and playing outside with my next door neighbor. Compared to last year, this year was a lot more easier, and less stressful.

Since moving, I have learned a lot of things about life, and my relationship with God. Most of it because I moved, and it was hard on the teenager I am. I also have been able to excel in thing, and be able to do stuff that I wouldn't be allowed to do in Durham. I've gotten a job, written a book, made new friends, and gained a whole second hometown.

When I first moved to Massachusetts, I just about found something wrong with everything, and when I couldn't find something wrong with it I could just say "It's not like Connecticut" and I would be right. I have now realized that Massachusetts isn't as bad as I thought it was going to be, I've been able to grow in many ways, and I love it here!

Don't Keep Your Hopes Up

Since being a foster family, my mom and I haven't had much time together, alone. So when I learned that the boys (and all of them) were going to be Cod Fishing this weekend, mom and I got some DVDs, books, and planned a whole girls weekend for the two of us. But when the weather and the "swells" got too bad in Road Island on Thursday, it caused in a cancellation of the trip (bummer I know).

But today, the boys went and cleaned trash for 4 hours, leaving enough time for mom and I to watch Love Happens, and give each other a pedicure, but then after the guys came home at noon, we went to Yankee Candle over in South Deerfield. While there Z's behavior got a little out of control, which resulted in us leaving early.

Now it's hard to get to places/see things that we want to see, because when Z decides he's "done" with the thing we're doing, it also means we're all done. Which is hard because I like to learn and everything, so we need to drop everything we're doing and have to leave. Which seems unfair on my part, but then there's that nagging voice in my head telling me that we're doing the right thing, by leaving and everything. Hopefully it'll get easier and Z will learn patients and will understand that there are 4 other people in the family!

Here are some items that help with a Girl's Weekend ♥
