Hello Your Highness

So I've been having an alright, and Mom wanted to go shopping, so I'm like whatever. I didn't really want to go, but Bro #1 was at Boy Scouts. Well I've been wearing my tiara all day, because it's my birthweek.

Well we're at Big Y and my mom forgets something, so I go back to the vegtable aisle and I pass a Big Y employee, well he goes "Hello your highness". I replied "hello", but all in my head I was going "YES! SOMEONE FINALLY UNDERSTANDS ME!"

This Big Y employee make my whole day :)

Best Boss Ever!

I have the best boss in the whole wide world!! And you can’t have her! I wanted my birthday off, but she couldn’t cover me, so I wasn’t going to flip. Mom has her job so my whole plan of going to CT kind of failed, so being at work is good :) Well I was planning on wearing a tiara all day, so I emailed my boss “Would it be work appropiate to wear a tiara on my birthday at work?” I was expecting a weird response, but instead I got a “Wear the tiara! : )”

This made me so so so happy!!

She is amazing!

You cannot have her!!!

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. Will you watch the Super Bowl? If so who will you root for? If you are outside the USA what is the 'big deal sporting event' in your own country? Yes, I usually just watch for the commercials, becuase they have awesome commercials, but I really got into football this year so I'm totally watching it, even though none of me teams made it :( I'm rooting for the Steelers, they played an amazing game against the Jets, wish the Jets played for the first half, but the Steelers will get my yelling!!

My favorite commercial is usually with Bud, becuase they involve horses, and they're really cute, so this one is my favorite. I'm pretty sure it's from the '06 Super Bowl, but can't remember :/

2. Is ignorance bliss? Yes, on occasion.

3. Which of the seven dwarfs are you? (and just in case your Disney is a little bit rusty, here they are-Bashful, Doc, Dopey, Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy, and Sneezy) Sleepy, definitely sleepy. I get no sleep.

4. When you are riding in the car with another couple how do you organize the seating? (Men up front? Women up front? Couples sit together?) And thanks to Lori at Mountain Woman at Heart for the question! Everyone go say hi to Lori. I'm only a child ;) It usually works out, guys in the front and women in the back if my father is driving ;)

5. What is beauty?

6. If someone asks you to bring an appetizer or a dessert to a party in their home, which would you choose? Appetizer, more options. I would probably bring mini-quinces (that's how you spell it, right?) they're so cute and you have so many options!

7. What is your crowd pleasing go-to appetizer? I don't have one!! I have never had to make an appetizer, I'm not that amazing ;) hmmmmm, probably I would make - - - I have no clue ;) Something vegetarian.

8. Insert your own random thought here. I wonder if Joyce is going to a party, because the last two questions involve parties and food - - - both a good mix :D

La Vie Est Belle

La Vie Est Belle

By: Candy Corn

Present

I pull my Corvette into the driveway and shift it into park. I grab the “Thank you for shopping with us” bag and pull out my house key, which I painted hot pink with light pink polka-dots when I was thirteen. I unlock the front door and walk into the kitchen. I dug through the bag and found the pregnancy test. I took it out and walked into the bathroom.

I just looked at the pregnancy test as I slowly watch the words get stronger. I’m so scared, wanting to know if I’m pregnant. I looked at the test again to see what the result is. I lean against the bathroom door, and slowly slide down the door as the tears start to fall. I look at the test again, just to make sure that I was reading it correctly. It still said “PREGNANT”. Looking at the test brought me back to that night. I was walking to my car after my German class at Quinsigamond Community College, I just hung up with my mom telling her that my class just ended and that I’m on my way home. This is my last year at community college, before I can transfer to a “college” college, and start on my Bachelors at 18. The next thing I know I was up against my car and a guy was on top of me.

I made the flashback stop, and I started crying even harder. I pulled my cell out of my pocket and dialed the one person who I can trust and I knew was home. I called Susan.

“Hey Caelyn, is everything alright?” Susan asked

“Susan – Can you come to me house? I need you” I replied between my sobs

“What’s wrong? Are you alright?” Susan responded

“No, not at all! My parents aren’t home, and I need you right now. I think, I think I’m pregnant,” I whispered. Hearing myself say the word, realizing that it’s true, it seems so unreal. I’m a perfect kid, I work, go to college, and still finish off some of my high school classes, and I’m only 17. What am I going to do with a child?!

“Caelyn, I’ll be there in a couple of minutes, okay?” Susan responded after a couple of minutes of hearing her breath while I cry.

“Okay, thank you Susan,” I responded as I hung up. I looked at the pregnancy test again. Yup, it still said “PREGNANT”. I took it and set it on the sink as I got up. I opened the bathroom door and waited for Susan to show up.

Four Months Pregnant

I pulled into the Chicopee Public Library parking lot. I looked at my belly, even with my long, flowing, shirt, my pregnancy still shows. I got out of my car, locked it, and walked into the library. I walked down the stairs to the reference desk. I saw that the Teen Times will be meeting in the history room. I was the first one here, so I took a seat and pulled out my notebook. Slowly, everyone came in one-by-one, and we started the meeting slightly on time. Twenty minutes into the meeting, a horrible nauseous feeling came in a rush. I looked at Jess, and excused myself from the meeting. I asked the reference library where the bathroom was. Luckily it was close. I ran to the bathroom with my hand to my mouth and my purse hitting my back. I ran into the first stall, attempted to hold my hair back and vomited into the toilet. A couple minutes later I heard Jess calling for me.

“Caelyn, are you okay? What stall are you in?” Jess asked

“No, want to hold my hair back for me? I’m in the first stall,” I called back. Jess came in and held my hair back. After a couple minutes of vomiting I felt much better. I left the stall and brushed my teeth, I know keep toothpaste and a tooth brush on me. Evidently, morning sickness isn’t just in the morning, who knew! I looked at Jess, who was still in the bathroom, waiting for me, and I started to cry. Jess pulled me into a hug and stoked my hair as I cried on her shoulder.

“Caelyn, everything will be okay. I promise,” Jess whispered into my ear. I finally calmed down after a couple minutes. I touched up my makeup and looked at Jess through the mirror.

“You can’t promise that. My father doesn’t even talk to me. I haven’t seen my mother outside of work, if I’m able to even talk to my father or live in their house, then maybe I would believe you,” I said as I dropped my makeup into my bag and turned to her. We both walked out of the bathroom and into the history room together. Kathy gave me a look and said, with her annoying voice,

“So glad that you could join us, we were just talking about teen pregnancy. Want to weigh in?”

It seemed as if everyone looked at Kathy with a “Did that just come out of your mouth?” look. I looked up at Kathy, with a look I can’t even describe. Smiled, and replied.

“I’m sorry Kathy, but we only want to use stories that are consensual, because rape and sexual assault is a whole different story,” The rest of the group looked at Kathy. Her look was surprised that I came back with a response, and a good one at that! I smiled and said, “Okay, shall we continue?”

Nine Months Pregnant

I’m spending the day with my boss, we’re doing errands for work and for my new baby girl that is a week late. We’re only picking up the last couple things, when I felt the worst contraction known to man!

“Susan, it’s time!” I said. Susan looked at me, and then at my belly, and everything connected. She got me to the car, and started driving to Mary Lane. Luckily we were at Walmart, so we were closer than if we were at Big Y. We get to the doctors and I’m doing the funny breathing thing. It’s kind of helping, but there is still pain - - - Pain that no guy will ever feel.

Seven Hours in Labor

12:15 AM, May 4th

“Good morning Caelyn! How are we doing today?” My doctor asked in a too cheerily of a voice at this hour. I looked at her and smiled.

“I’m doing good, hungry and tired, but I’m goo – AHHHHHH!” I screamed. It was another contraction.

“Okay Caelyn, at your next contraction take a deep breath and push really hard for me, okay?” My doctor asked. I could only accomplish a nod, because the next thing I knew, I was pushing. I looked around the room and saw my father, which meant so much to me. When I told my father that I was pregnant he kicked me out, so I’ve been living with Susan for the past nine months. He hasn’t even called or talked to me since I told him. The only time I see my mother is at work when she has a book, we talk on occasion, but not too often. So having my father there is like a dream come true.

The next couple minutes were a blur; it was filled with doctors and nurses, and pushing, and crying, and awing. The next thing I knew I was being asked what I wanted to name my daughter. I looked down at this sweet, innocent, little child, who was conceived by a rape, I never knew someone that beautiful could be the result from something so evil.

“Susan Troi Adams,” I said, “That’s her name. Susan Troi Adams,” I smiled as I looked down at my Susan, and she smiled back at me.

Best Lunch Ever!

Today was spent with my mother :) We stopped at Old Navy so I can get a couple outfits (so I can start the 30 for 30 Challenge), we then stopped at Dress Barn, Mom was working her way through clothes and I was being so good, but I could only be good for so long, so I got a a shirt, some earings, and some stockings :) From there we went to Payless for Mom, and after that we ate at Uno's and we had a wonderful salad called the Warm Walnut - Crusted Goat Cheese, it was so good! We then had a flat bread pizza called Roasted Eggplant, Spinach, & Feta. It was such a great lunch!

The whole day was amazing, a much needed mom and me day :D

Electoral College - Homework Assignment

What is the Electoral College?

The electoral college is a group of people from every state including Washington DC, who elect the next president and vice president. The elector is elected by the people on election day, and all elector's meet on the Monday after the second Wednesday in December.

The college never meets as a whole. Each state will have their own place for the college to vote at, it is usual at the capital. Here the electors will cast their votes, after taking an oath. After voting the electors complete the Certificate to Vote, which state the number of votes received and who casted the votes.

To count the vote, a staff member from the vice president will collect all of the Certificate to Vote, and prepares for a joint session of Congress. The staff member will place all of the certificate in two special mahogany boxes, unopened. Alabama to Missouri, including DC, is in one box, and Montana to Wyoming are place in another box.

The Electoral College has had 538 electors since 1964, these electors are elected or appointed by the state or their political convention. Each elector takes an oath to vote the way their region's popular vote votes. The elector is bound by oath to vote for the winner in their area's popular vote. If they don't they can be persecuted. For example, in 2000, Barbara Lett Simmons, an elector from Washington DC decided not to vote for Al Gore. Simmons' vote was abstained, but her not voting didn't change the outcome of the election.

What is the use of the Electoral College?

The electoral college is a way for the American people to elect the president indirectly. The electoral college was created from the 3/5 Compromise for the Constitution. The electoral college is a group of people that elect the next president and vice president, this group of people are elected by the people and then take an oath to vote the way that their local area voted.

A Very Snowy (Blizzard-y) Hodgepodge

It's not snowing yet, but it will be. I don't really plan on having work tomorrow (I'm writing this post on Tuesday). The sad note is that our snow blower is not here with us, so who will be shoveling the long driveway? Bro # 1 and I!!!!!! GRRRR!!! Well if you have five feet of snow or no snow, you can always join me and Joyce from This Side of the Pond with the Wednesday Hodgepodge! Have a wonderful day, and keep warm if you have any snow!!

Snowy Update!! It's beyond snow filled, bleh! So please enjoy my puppy, Max, who is currently part of the snow ;)

1. Every January 1st since 1976 Lake Superior University has published a list of words they'd like to see banished from the Queen's English. Words may be banished due to mis-use, over-use or just general uselessness and they receive over 1000 nominations. Here are the fourteen words/phrases they'd like to see banished in 2011-viral, epic, fail, wow factor, a-ha moment, back story, BFF, man up, refudiate, Mama Grizzlies, The American People, facebook/google when used as verbs, I'm just sayin', and Live life to the fullest.

What word or phrase would you like to see banished from our everyday vocabulary in 2011? You can choose one from the 'official list' or you can get creative and come up with your own.

I was reading through every reason on under BFF, the woman goes, "These chicks" Okay, that should be banished!! Even chicks, should be banished, unless we're referring to the animal, which I don't think we are, but it gets very confusing for a girl like me (no I'm not blond!) Another word that I would love to be banished would be "Because" in the use of an answer. When I ask why, I don't want the answer "because", because you're not giving me an answer!

2. Do you consider opportunity something that comes to you or something you create for yourself?

Depends on the opportunity, sometimes it's the work of you, but then there are sometimes when unsee-able forces get involved and create a huge opportunity. For example, being able to work at the library. I think it was my working for going to volunteer, but it was God's working for making me go to the specific library and having me go at that time and have me get the job and all of that :)

3. Since we're all eating healthy this month, ahem, what's included in your favorite salad? Is there dressing?

In my post on January 1st, I wrote about this Carlton Salad that I had at the Cheesecake Factory that was oh so heavenly!! The Carlton Salad, which is romaine lettuce, feta cheese, avocado, cranberries, pears, oranges, and pecans all tossed in a balsamic vinaigrette (it does have chicken, but I ordered it without the chicken). Another salad I love is from Perk on Main, in Durham, CT. It's called Katie's Classic, it has baby greens, dried cranberries, feta cheese, caramelized pecans, and balsamic vinegarette (wow, they're almost the same). Both are very very very very good :)

4. The fourth Monday in January is said to be Blue Monday...aka the most depressing day of the year. The date was calculated using many factors including weather, debt level, time since Christmas, time since we've failed at our new year resolutions, low motivation and feeling a need to take action. Do you get the blues this time of year and if so what is something you do to lift your spirits?

Not usually, mainly because I'm too busy! You can't be depressed and watch a two year old, work, go to school, and work at the horse barn. It just doesn't work. If I am depressed any of the items that I just listed will cheer me up :)

5. Do you wear a watch? Any other everyday jewelry essentials?

No I don't wear a watch, unless you count my cell phone in my pocket ;) I always have three bracelets on my left wrist and two on my right :D I have my "I read banned books" bracelet, my "Monty" bracelet, and a friendship bracelet made by my friend Kat on my left wrist, and then I have two silly bandz, one's a moose and the other is a bear from my friend Krista, and I sometimes have a hair band on my right wrist :)

6. What is something useful you learned in high school?

So far, I've learned how amazing astronomy is - - - I absolutely love that part of science. Also, that make sure you remember every little detail about one section because they will ask every question possible on that section, then you may forget about it ;)

7. Do you use an accountant when completing and filing your income tax returns or do you attempt to muddle through all by yourself?

Nope :) This is going to be the first year I actually will have to file taxes, because I have a job, but because I'm a minor they go on my parents taxes, so technically my mother will be doing the taxes :)

8. Insert your own random thought here.

So I just saw this video, and let me tell you. This play is absolutely amazing!! It is so funny, and I love the look on the other team. It's pretty funny!

Sweetest Man Ever

I was at work yesterday and the phone rang

animated telephone Pictures, Images and Photos

So I gave it a death glare

Colbert Glare of Dissaproval Pictures, Images and Photos

Because it rang several times and the past two were telemarketer's who wouldn't leave a message and were trying to transfer themselves to an invisible department - - - because NEWSFLASH! MY BOSS DOES NOT WORK DESK HOURS, SO please leave me a message or STOP CALLING ME!!!!!! Well I answered this phone, and was pleasantly surprised by this gentleman who is over in Northampton who wants to borrow our copy of Satan's Harvest.

We just got our copy (yes we're a little late), so it's still being processed and on top of that it is a library use only copy, so we can't ship it out of the library! I told the man that I will try to see if we could ship it over to him, and if not how he could get a hold of his own copy. I suggested that he go to Amazon.com to see if he could get a copy, this is when he responds "Miss Cae, I'm a 70 veteran. I moved over here so I can be closer to the VA hospital. I don't believe in credit cards. I don't have a computer, a microwave, a cell phone. My phone plugs into my wall, I ride my bike and don't have a car, and I pay most everything in cash." I thanked him for serving our country

I then said "You said you had five kids, right? One of them could help you purchase the book, right?" he then responded "Yes, I have five kids, but one lives in France, one in Germany, one in California, one in Florida, and one in South Carolina." He stumped me, I had no clue how to get him this copy of a book, and it's only $7 including shipping from Amazon! After we hung up, I noticed that I spent 11 minutes on the phone with this sweet sweet gentlemen. I looked from the computer screen, which was still on the Amazon.com Satan's Harvest copy to the phone and my notes. I then said "I'm going to buy him a copy"

I purchased the copy this afternoon, after I called his library to see if I could ship the book to them and have them get it to him, sure enough he is a usual and the librarian said that he is so sweet. I told her that he made my whole day yesterday, so she responds "He tends to do this every time he comes here" I smiled, and knew that this man, this veteran who served our country, is on in a million.

I have to say, I never thought one phone call, from a man that I've never met could change my life so much!

God bless you all!

A Nice Surprise

I had to attend a Boy Scout Eagle Ceremony this morning down in CT. We made it early to help out, and no one could figure out how to open the front door of the church, so I called E, the minister, and he didn't pick up on his cell, so I called his home, totally forgetting that he was at his moms. Well J, my choir director who was just diagnosed with breast cancer, answered. This was such a nice surprise and made my day :) She certainly didn't sound J-ish, but she didn't sound sick. It was such a nice surprise to talk to her, it made my whole day :)

Love you J!!

Pink and Green

So I was reading Sincerely Shanon's blog and noticed that she did this Pink and Green thing, so of course I followed the link to Pink Preppy Lily Lover, and I just looked at the whole Pink and Green and went Ohmygod! I just have to do this!!! So here is my pink.

What I absolutely love in this picture is the lovely pink suitcases, but the girls shoes are pretty cute to, another think to notice is the light pink on the shoes. The picture overall isn't a hot pink, overpowering the picture. They're both a soft pink that is fairly cute, and I could easily see myself walking through the airport terminal trying to make a plane, absolutely love this picture!!

This picture is when I looked at it I was like "BEN FRANKLIN BI-FOCIALS! HECK YEAH!" So I did this little happy dance, because I found these really awesome glasses, and yeah.

Hello 2011, Goodbye 2010

This weekend and holiday season has been very very very VERY busy!! I'm sitting her writing this blog post, tired beyond belief, because I just got back from babysitting. Yes, it's a little past midnight, but whatever ;) So I really need this key on my laptop, don't you think?

So I'm not like this, while I'm writing this blog post

Okay, so my weekend you ask?

We'll start on Wednesday, I was at work and finished working at 3:00. Mom then picked me up and we drove down to CT, so I can go to the Cheesecake Factory and see Yogi Bear in West Hartford with my old Girl Scout troop :) I got a Carlton Salad, without chicken, which was the best salad I've ever had! I had a Godiva Chocolate Cheesecake, which was really good also :) Now, our waitress was the slowest waitress known to man. We got seated around 11:45, and we didn't leave by 1:14 and we didn't even eat our cheesecake, we had to order it to go!

Yogi Bear, was the cutest movie ever! I absolutely loved it!! Having it in 3D was pretty awesome also, but I still don't like the whole fact of having to pay the extra $2 for 3D, but it was worth it!!

When I got home from the whole day with my troop, we had a respite for the weekend. Her name is N, and she's really awesome!

Friday!!!

New Years Eve, which in my mind means PARTAYYYYY!! Okay, so my party consisted of burning potstickers, drinking sparkaling cider, sitting above the garage watching Dick Clark's Rockin New Years Eve, and feel bad for not having a party to attend. Yeah, that's a nice wonderful night, don't ya think? Well N and I spent the night watching TV, talking, and drinking.

Yes I stayed up all night and accomplished it :D

Saturday aka today! The first day of 2011, I just want to state that I'm so glad that 2010 is over, my life all last year was an emotional rollercoaster, and man did I want to get off!!! So I had a babysitting job Saturday night to watched H, the cutest boy possible!! So I wathced him until 11pm and his parents gave me a car ride home, and now I'm writing this blog post practically asleep on the laptop.

The only thing that is keeping me up right now would be this (just infront of my laptop).

So good riddance to 2010 and hello 2011!!
