Speed Dial 3

As you all know S has been a second mother to me for a while now, and today I finally realized how nice it is to have a 2nd mother, or that person who is 3 on your speed dial. Today there were some problems with Bro #2, and they were pretty big problems, so I went outside, I had to take a breather and possibly go on a walk. Well the way this problem started, could have been avoided by me, and I guess I'm a little stubborn, so I didn't really realize what was going to come next.

Well I finally went on a walk, after I grabbed my flip flops, and I just had to talk to someone, that someone turned out to be S. I knew I would talk to Mom & Dad about it, and Bro #1 had no clue what just happened, so I told him. So on my walk, when I got into cell coverage I decided to give S a call, just to see if I could get a hug. It turned our S and her hubby, A, were going out to the store, so I couldn't get my hug, but S and I talked and she really did help me. Sure I broke down in tears on my phone, standing on the side of the road, but she's amazing. S listened to me, and helped me a lot. S is really a second mother, and is my #3 on my speed dial.

I think everyone should have an S in their life, someone to fill that #3 on their speed dial. Because you don't know when you're going to need that speed dial #3

Quotes

So for my Girl Scout Gold Award, I'm working on the Home Improvement I.P. and I have to refurbish a piece of furniture, so I bought a corner table at a local flea market, and have been working on it. Well I finally got the first coat of paint on it, and have the plan in my head. It's going to have a quote on the top, and a quote around the bottom of the top, see the flat part? Well I have one quote chosen, Romans 8:28, but I still need another quote, and it's so hard for me to choose one quote, because I love them all! So any suggestions?

I'm going to write the quote in a metallic gold, which will accent the gold stars on the accent wall, which is a dark purple. I'll upload the pictures when everything is completed.

Summer Flashback

Has it been one week already?? Well it must have, since today a new Flashback Friday from Mocha with Linda! Today, I can actually do a rough Flashback.

This weeks prompt:
What were summers like when you were a kid? Did your family have any particular traditions? Did you sleep 'til noon or get up early? Did you attend camps? Spend lots of time at the pool? Was it a neighborhood pool or in your backyard? Did you take swimming lessons? Did you live near a beach? (And do you call it the beach or the coast?!) Did you attend VBS (Vacation Bible School)? Did your library have a reading program that you participated in? What types of prizes were available? Did you get to buy treats from the ice cream truck? Did your family go on vacations? If so, what is a memorable one? Do you associate any particular songs with summer?

The summer, let's see, there was a family cottage, which we would always rent for two weeks at Hawk's Nest Beach. We've always had a cottage at Hawk's Nest, for God know how long. We have stayed in the same cottage since '38, and before then we stayed at another cottage, which was taken out by the '38 hurricane. I would always find a pool to swim in, my grandfather and uncle owned pools, but my family never did. We also had two close friends that had pools, and we were there almost daily by invitation. Summer camp was here and there, I did Girl Scout camp once or twice and a 4-H camp one summer, but the one major summer vacation was the two week trip in Kentucky. My old church takes one week down in eastern KY, and build houses with LINKS. My family would leave before the church left and go and stop through states. We've stopped in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. I always loved working in Kentucky, so when I was allowed to go by myself last year, it was great! Although I went down with the church, it was still amazing!

Songs with Summertime, of course!! These are my two favorites!

Brunet Hair For Life

For those that don't know, I'm a brunet, and for the past year I've been contemplating dyeing it or putting some type of highlights in my hair, a nice cute blonde color. Well I need to be a Strawberry Blonde for the play I'm in, and I went to my local hair studio and talked to the owner, now I've been warned by S to only let Sh touch your hair. But I ignored S, and told K what I needed done. So K asked if she could test some washable stuff on me, I said sure. . .Let's just say I wasn't the hottest person out there. I walked into the library, and S started laughing hystarically. . .She thought it was so funny, and I gave her full permission to laugh, since I didn't listen to her warning. I got most of the color out, and covered what ever part on my skin with some cover-up. Once I got home (this all happened before work) I took a shower, and it only took me three washes to get everything out!

I have now given up on dyeing my hair, I love my brunet hair, and I can't believe I ever thought of dyeing it.

I will not dye my hair until it's covering gray hair's up, and let's hope that that isn't for a long long long time!

Lots of Love,
The %100 Brunet Hair Librarian aka Cae ♥

Random Dozen

This weeks Random Dozen from 2nd Cup of Coffee is going to be a lot more easy than last weeks!

1. Would you rather host party or simply attend a party? It would of course depend on the party, I would love to host a Kentucky Derby Party and make Mint Juleps and everything, but like Birthday Parties are just too much work every year, so I would just attend those.

2. Tell us about the most memorable party you've been to. Hmmm, I need to think about this one a little bit more ;)

3. What is one thing you hope for in the after-life? Books, A lot of book, and maybe some music, and maybe a piano! Oops, didn't read the word "one" again. Sorry Lid ;)

4. What do you enjoy most about sunshine? The sunny part of it? I just like the sunshine, I like the whole idea of reading my book out in the sunshine!

5. When you attend a bridal/baby shower, do you prefer to bring your own gift or chip in with others to buy a larger gift? It depends, it the Bride/Soon-to-be Mom has most of the stuff and she wants the one large item, then I'll chip in, but if not I buy my own gift.

6. Would you rather have a FREE week of having your house cleaned or all of your meals cooked for you and your family? I like cooking, so I could choose having my house cleaned, because cleaning is all a drag!

7. What song describes your mood today? I don't know, it's too early. Happy maybe, excited to go to work today :D Oh SONG!!! Probably Ave Maria

8. What is something you received for your own bridal shower/wedding that you still own or use? (If you are not married, feel free to sub a gift you received a long time ago.) Bun Bun! I got this stuffed bunny years ago (I'll upload a picture after work) She only has one ear, and I had to sew the other whole of where the ear used to be, and she is White and Black, and she is my Bun Bun!

9. Your favorite flavor of ice cream is? Phish Food from Ben & Jerry's or maybe American Pie, from Ben & Jerry's

10. When was the last time you felt "tested?" This morning, when someone was testing temporary hair dye on my hair, I'll write a blog after I do this one :)

11. "[Fill in the blank] is a food that once I start eating I find really hard to stop." Pistachios, as one of my favorite NCIS characters, Abby Schotio, say "Have you ever eaten just one pistachio?!"

12. "-----" is the best motivation. My Favorite Things from the Sound of Music

No Cream, No Coffee!

So as you all know, I am an avid coffee drinker, and recently someone *cough cough* mom *cough cough* has been using all the coffee cream! Now, I don't know how you all drink your coffee, but I need flavored CREAM!! I have to have flavored cream! If I don't have my flavored cream, then I can't drink my coffee, although when I order my coffee from somewhere, I don't need flavored cream, just becuase, but ughhhh no coffee in my system is like, okay I can't think of something to compare it with.

Coffee = Brains for Cae, No Coffee = Brainless Cae, so how do you drink your coffe? Do you even drink coffee?

Church Membership

As you all know, I was confirmed last year a couple weeks before I moved. Well its been a little over a year with my family in the new church. Well evidently my father (who is still a member of an Episcopal church, which he last went to a service as a young child) asked Rev. L what it would take to move the WHOLE families membership up. I don't hate the church up here, but leaving my old church, MY church, would be like leaving my hometown, if that makes sense. Its been pretty easy to find a new library, and to make new friends, to make MA a hometown, to make my house a home, but to leave MY church in CT, its the only thing left that I have of my old hometown, which its hard to explain how it feels, especially for me. But as I'm reading the by-laws, I can be a partial member, but I wouldn't have any voting power. I want to be part of this church up here, since I'm already so active in it, but I don't want to leave MY church, I don't want to lose that last piece of MY town.

I don't really know what to do, and I think that to be faced with this decision, is tough. Have you had the same problem? If, so what made you change, or not change? Any hints would be great.

Lots of Love,
The Slightly Confused Congregationalist aka Cae ♥

It Only Takes One Person

When we moved to MA, we came from a small town in CT, and when you did your daily walk everyone would wave at you and you would wave back, and it's like that in most of the towns in CT. But when we moved up to MA, no one wave, even when you waved at them! So mom and I decdied we're going to change MA, and make them a waving state! Yesterday I went on my daily walk, and I decided to go a little farther than usual, just to see who would wave. Everyone waved! We have changed MA from a "Cowboy-nod State" to a "Waving State", as I told mom. People have actually waved at me first! Which, I think is great :) This is proof that it does only take one person. If we all became that one person, and all waved, smiled, asked how your day was and listened, how diferent would the world be? I have noticed that people don't go out of their way to make some feel at home, because it "embarrassing", but what if we over come that embarrassment and just did it? Why should saying "hi, how are you?" be an embarrassment? If we all went out of our way, just you who are currently reading this post. We could change the world for the better!

Do I Really Look That Old?

Disclaimer **When I say old in this post, it's a good old, not a bad one!**

Yesterday I was working, and I had my usualls come in, and two of my usuals are two elderly women who are friends. One was applying for a library card, and they wanted to make to Bingo, since Bingo was at 1:00 at the Senior Center, up the road. So one says "Well, if we don't make it we could have the librarian drive us back", and I looked at her and said "Well, that might be a little hard, since I don't have a driver's license". This flabbergasted (yay I used my favorite word in a sentence!) her, "Really? How old are you?" She aked, "Oh I'm #" I responded, "Really? I thought you were at least twenty-one" she replied.

I have to say, I have had more people swear I was in my late-teens, early-twenties more and more since getting this job, and it's not pretty bad. . .Now only if being mistaken for the age counts for something like, a driver's license, voting rights, graduated high school already. So, I have to say, I love my job and the people whom I work with and for!

Lots of Love,
The under twenty-one librarian aka Cae ♥

Flash-forward to Graduation

This weeks Flashback Friday from mocha with Linda well will be a flash-forward for me.
I have not yet graduated, but I figured might as well put what I've dreamed of my graduation to be like.
This weeks prompt:
Tell about your senior year in high school. Were there any special traditions such as getting a senior ring? Were there lots of activities and parties as you neared graduation? Were you in any extra-curricular activities that had traditional "rites of passage" or "passing the baton" too the next class? Were awards given out - either serious or fun? Did you send out graduation announcements? Did your school have a Baccalaureate Service in addition to the graduation ceremony? If you attended church, did your church recognize/honor Seniors in any way? Did you keep your tassel - did you hang it from the mirror of your car or do something else special with it? What sorts of things did you get for graduation gifts? Was it a tradition to display the gifts in your home?

I have always thought that I would live in CT for my whole life, stay in school, and of course graduate from the small town high school. I would be in the white satin gown (White for girls, blue for boys). I would be surrounded by my friends when I graduated, people that I would have gone to school with for years! The next Sunday, I would then go to church for Bachaloret Sunday in which the pastor E and the Superentendant of the schools would speak about the whole graduating class, say where we were going to college and our major, or where we are going to work.

After church I would go home and we would have a huge graduation party with family and friends! It would be a dream come true.

Now for the more realistic part of being homeschooled. I think I'm going to force my mom to buy a cap and gown because I want one! Okay, maybe just the tassel. There won't be a graduation ceremony, for the fact that I'm getting my GED hopefully before I'm 18, and then taking my SATs and PSATs. Applying to college and the end.

Sorry Linda to make you feel like a whole different senority! I say, do what my great grandfather always did. When ever asked your age add ten years, and you'll look really good for your age!

What is a steaming cup of coffee that is left stranded on the counter?

"What is a steaming cup of coffee that is left stranded on the counter? Within minutes it is nothing but a cold, orphaned beverage. A cup of coffee isn't experienced and enjoyed until you participate with it. You don't go to Starbucks look at coffee, to admire its deep hue, and to comment on its robust appearance. You go to Starbucks to drink it in, to participate in the experience of great coffee.

The same is true of spirituality, of course. You can read a book about prayer or worship. The words might inspire you, even challenge you. The ideas might intrigue you to the extent that you invest time in thinking about a particular spiritual discipline. But if you don't go ahead and pray or worship, the words written about these subjects are nothing more than dry ink. They are lifeless symbols of language that describe a spiritual experience that is impotent and useless until you choose to participate in it."- The Gospel According to Starbucks by Leonard Sweet

I've been reading this book daily, and it's very good. I've been filled with quotes, and have started a book filled with these quotes. I just read the above this afternoon after I was lathered up in suntan lotion and was sitting out on an old sheet out in the sun/shade (I can't deal with another sun burn this early in the season!). Since starting this book Sweet has made me question what I believe in. I know I believe in God, Jesus, The Trinity, The Church, and the beliefs of UCC, but where in my belief is EPIC (Experience, Participation, Image-rich, Connection)? Sweet has since moved me to re-start reading the Bible daily (a goal that I've started last year). I've also realized that I need to live my life on an EPIC scale, and not just a normal scale. Sweet does a wonderful job of combining church with Starbucks, two of my favorite subjects.

I chose this book at random, I was making my Amazon Widget for my Starbucks Fettish post. I figured if I'm going to reccomend to my reader's to read this, then I might as well read it! Although I have yet to finish The Gospel According to Starbucks, it is a must read and I highly recommend it to either Christians or to Starbucks lovers, or to both!

One Random Dozen

It's that time again!! This week is the Random Dozen from Lid's amazing blog 2nd Cup of Coffee!!! Today's theme is: "One", uh oh there will be a disclaimer for me on this one! Well enjoy and make your own Random Dozen and link back up to 2nd Cup of Coffee!!!

**Disclaimer: Cae will have a really hard time with this weeks theme, One, it is very hard for Cae to actually do/think/talk about one thing at a time, just ask anyone who is friends with her. So Lid and readers I'm going to apologize because this one (haha no pun intended) I really had to think and control myself and try to put only one answer up!**

1. What is one really fast, know-by-heart "go-to" meal to fix in a pinch? Ramen Noodle Soup? Or Pasta, I can make pasta pretty fast.
2. What is one item you won't leave home without. (Purse and license do not count.)
Keys!!! If I ever left home without my house keys (or work keys depending on the day) it would be very bad! If Keys don't count, my mini calendar. . . Well the one that fits in my purse. I always carry it around with me.
3. Where is one place you never tire of visiting? The library!!! If that doesn't show I'm a geek, I think the next best thing is a huge sign pointing to me saying "Geek"
4. Share one factoid of your family's history. My mom was adopted many moons ago, and now I have a ton of family (does that count?). Okay, let me think of a better one. On my mom's adopted fathers side (followed me?) the family rented out a cottage at Hawk's Nest Beach in Old Lyme, CT. The Hurricane of '68 was devastating to CT and the coastline especially. Our family cottage was blown completely off of the plot and into the swamp. The father went out to retrieve the families stuff, and so did the son. The son got sick with Scarlett Fever. On the day that the son died the father killed himself (before his son actually died). Or I could put up a boring story from dad's side, or a really cool story from mom's birth side (her birth family and adoptive family are all really cool, I could go on and on with stories from them!)
5. Complete this sentence: "Once upon a time I ...." Fell  off of Geffrey, my Belgian Draft Horse, onto the only rock in the indoor rings. I landed on this rock on my back, and I had a huge bruise! Jenn, my riding teacher asked me if I was alright, I was. Then offered if I would like to keep the rock to show my friends. I declined and said that I will show them the bruise. The End ☺
6. If you could win a one year's supply of anything, what would it be? STARBUCKS COFFEE or CARAMEL APPLE SPICE!!!!!!!!!
7. "One quirky thing you may not know about me is ...."
I shelve all of the hold books at the library and when I organize my books at home they are all put in order by height then alphabetically (dose that count as quirky or just weird?)
8. You have one dollar in your pocket. What will you buy? Nothing, I would put it into my bank account and have it earn interest (smart idea!). Oh, if I had to buy something I would go to McDonald's and buy my daddy two Cherry Pies, since they're his favorite!
9. "One thing that always makes me laugh is ...." My boss S or my Best-Guy-Friend A.J! The two of them I know will make me laugh/smile every time I come in contact with them :D Love you guys ♥
10. What is one thing you could do today to help yourself reach a personal goal? Read another chapter in the Bible
11. What is one thing you could do today to bless someone else?
Hmmmmm, okay so I'm answering these on a Tuesday to think of a Wednesday. . .Well I wouldn't calling blessing someone, maybe payback. But the library board is going to sing Happy Birthday to S today (Wednesday)!!
12. What is one thing you're looking forward to soon? Work tomorrow??
Ummmm, there is a state of the town meeting tonight, but that might not be a good looking forward to. . .Oh how about play rehearsal? Or maybe just a cup of coffee? Lidna!!! I can't choose just ONE thing for this!!!

If you enjoyed today's Random Dozen, go check out Lidna's blog 2nd Cup of Coffee!!

Oh My Goodness! & What Latin Can Do To Your Day

Oh My Goodness!!

So I'm watching NCIS, from last week, and I knew that throughout this past season NCIS has been looking into Gibbs past, and this episode is the one that adds to it!! I'm not going to ruin it if you enjoy NCIS, but Oh My Goodness!!

What Latin Can Do To Your Day

So I kind of stopped Latin and since reading The Gospel According to Starbucks and attempting to take some PSAT tests, I have learned that Latin will help me tremendously to learn what the words mean in the English section, I might actually have a chance of passing the SATs & PSATs. BUT I did my Latin yesterday before work, and just about the whole day was off. Mom and I were snippy at each other, before work I spilled my coffee on my pants (only some of it-luckily), I then (let's hope my boss isn't reading) for got to change the open sign to open, luckily Father Dan came and he changed it for me. I then did drop multiple books and DVDs (only the cases of DVDs). Then when I had singing rehearsal I totally messed up, and couldn't hit any of the high notes. So Latin totally messed up my whole day yesterday, but yet I'm doing Latin today!

Lots of Love

The Gospel According To Starbucks & Letter to Howard Schultz Update

I came across this book while looking on Barnesandnoble.com for books about Starbucks (my other fettish, which has it's own post click here to read it). So once I got a list of my Starbucks books, I requested them from my local library. I just started reading The Gospel According To Starbucks by Leonard Sweet, and so far it's really good. Leonard is showing/teaching how to grow in your faith with the help of Starbucks, my favorite quote so far from the book is.

"God has set up shop where you live. The doors are open and the coffee is brewing. God is serving the refreshing antidote to the convention, unsatisfying, arms-length spiritual life - and God invites you in.  God won't make you stand in line."

For some reason this quote made me realize that he's right, that God is inviting us in on a daily basis, and unlike Starbucks I don't need to wait in line. So I've now made a promise to myself and to God. My goal is to read the Bible from cover-to-cover, including the boring parts! This hopefully will not only help me in my religion, but will also help me in my education in religion.

Update on my letter to Howard Schultz, CEO of Starbucks

So a couple days ago, I was thinking of the letter that I wrote to Starbucks asking for the Green Apron Handbook, the one Starbucks book that I have yet to get my hands on. So when I got the mail that day, it turned out I got a response. Now the reponse wasphrased a little like this

"Cae,
We're so glad that you have enjoyed your experience at the Starbucks that you have been at, unfortunately we cannot send you a copy of the Green Apron Handbook.

Hopefully you will still continue to use Starbucks and enjoy the atmosphere

Sincerely,
Starbucks Employee"

A little disappointed yes, but discouraged? No! I guess it just means that I have to be accepted into University of Hartford, and I guess I need to apply for a job at the Starbucks up the street from U of H, so I've planned my college life out. I will live on campus at U of H work for my library on Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays. Go to school on Tuesday and Thursday, and work at Starbucks on Saturday and Sunday. Good idea? I think so, plus I would also get the Green Apron Handbook. That's going to be my goal! To get the Green Apron Handbook.

Note to Starbucks: I will always get Starbucks coffee, even if it is 45 minutes away to the closest one, you coffee and Caramel Apple Spice are amazing. Once you go Starbucks, you never go back!

Lots of Love!

First Sunburn of the Season

So yesterday I spent my day helping out my library at the annual book/bake sale. I spent my day watching the bounce house, out in the sun. From 8:00am - 2:40pm I was sitting in front of the bounce house reading my book (Spirit Bound by Richelle Mead). Okay, so when I say the book Spirit Bound by Richelle Mead (the one which comes out on the 18th) the library copy came in Thursday, so I was able to read it all day Saturday (great!). So my sunburn is in a triangle shape since, I was wearing a blue tee-shirt with a "v cut" on my back. I have a red sun burn on my back in the shape of a v, it's really cool. Well it does hurt, but I need to get at least one sun burn a year, and all in all it was totally  worth it, since my library made a little over $1,200!! Which is amazing!!! To see how much support we got yesterday makes me realize that there is no way that our town will close/combine us without a fight!!!

Work Flashback!

How old were you when you got your first (paying) job? Did you work during the school year? What stipulations, if any, did your parents put on spending, saving, etc.? What types of jobs did you have before you were, oh, 21 or 22? Did you go to college or a technical/trade school? If so, did you work while you were pursuing your post-high school education? What were your favorite -- and least favorite, if you wish to share! -- jobs? What did you learn from those early jobs?

Oh Linda, I'm apologizing for this post since I'm still young and the flashback will be a flashback to like a couple months ago.

My first job, I got when I was 11, I was a Mommy's Little Helper for a friend of my parents. She had two kids E age 5 and C age 3. I worked with Rho for two years until they had to move out to MO. I worked every day got paid $2.00 an hour and worked about 5ish hours a day, so I was racking in the cash with that job. After they moved I did some babysitting here and there, but nothing like I did with Rho, so I was low on money (and did I hate it!). I then started volunteering at my old towns library and fell in love with being a librarian (I know, I'm such a nerd)! So when I moved up to MA, I immediately started volunteering for the library up here. I've been volunteering at the library up here since May 2009, but in the beginning of April 2010 (I think) my boss called my house and asked if I wanted to take her desk hours! So my first official job is my current job being a Librarian. I have to say I love being a librarian and even though yesterday was my first actual stress-filled day at the library, I still enjoyed it! For college I'm planned to go to a college in the area for my undergrad, then I would go and get my Masters in Information & Library Science (in a dream I would be going to Simmons College in Boston for my MLS) and then work at a small town library (hopefully the one I'm working at today) and be a librarian for the rest of my life.

One thing that I've learned from having my job, is when your boss is happy your happy (Love you Mrs. T!!). I recently had to inform my boss that Giles (our library mascot & Beta Fish) was on his last leg (or should I say fin?) and that if he's dead it's not my fault! We do have plans to find another Beta fish when Giles dies, but Giles is well he's Giles!!!! I'll have to get a picture of him for you guys tomorrow when I'm at work! I have also learned that not all bosses are old, mean, grumpy bosses. For example my boss (and second mother) Mrs. T. (or S) is amazing! She is probably the most amazing-slightly-insane-phlebotomist-motherly boss that I have ever and will ever have in my life! She is just plain amazing!!! (I'll have to get a picture of her and I up here, okay I just need a picture of her, but when I get one I will add it to the post!)

(E is all the way on the right in his "dress")

If Linda, you don't mind I'm going to include a little flashback to my little 7 year old self. I figured since I'm not at wise as most of you guys posting on this Friday that I might as well add a couple jobs that I have always dreamed of doing. You all know of E, my old minister right?

Well if, not and your just reading this blog post. E is my old minister and he was huge with the kids! He was amazing, and for some reason he was just plain-out amazing! E is a walking encyclopedia also.

(I'm the one in the purple dress with the lace-This was the first grade play)

So my little 7 year old self was not only in love with being a minister, and how E always traveled to these awesome places and knew just about everything in the Bible, but I was also in love with fashion design and Horses! Okay, what 7 year old wasn't in love with horses? So I dreamt of being a traveling minister (like E, I could go to amazing far away places) on horseback (see I fit in my horses) and a fashion designer. My mom always laughed how I could have such different ideas of what I wanted to be when I grown up, a minister, a fashion designer, and a horseback rider/something to do with horses. I also wanted to fit in singing/acting in their also (I would be a very busy adult).

When  I was around like 12ish I fell in love with weddings and wedding dresses, have you ever seen Who's Wedding Is It Anyways? on Style Network? Well I tried to watch every single episode, because I loved wedding so then I dreamed (is that a word?) of being a wedding planner, you know how cool that would be? Getting to help out brides find their dress and cake and make everything special for their special day? I think that would be just amazing!

Okay, I just read Linda's blog and I forgot to add probably the scariest night of my life on here! It was a one night deal of waitressing, I have never waitressed before and before that day in April I never wanted to. But my library needed me, and whatever my boss tells me I will do (it's in my invisible job description). So I told her, okay but I have never waitressed before in my life, so I would need some guidance. S said that it would be easy we were only serving Prime Rib, and that V & L would help me out. Then night went by well, I learned the difference between medium rare and medium well. I had to use my fingers to remember who ordered what, my left hand was medium rare and my right hand was medium well. Working at the prime rib dinner, was so fun, but I was so scared that I would drop something (I'm a klutz) or mess up an order, or forget something. I do have to say, waitressing is a high-paced job, and that if I had to I would probably find a job as a waitress, but if I can stay to being a librarian that's what I'll do.

Randomly Thinking

1. Please share one memory of your high school graduation. Pics would be great! Since I'm still in high school, and that I'm homeschooled this would be kind of hard for me to do.
2. What is one "emergency use" item you keep in your vehicle at all times? I think we have maps, a cell phone, and an air pump in mom's car (woops that was over one, sorry Lid). And in my dad's truck we have an air pump, cell phone, and more maps.
3. In your region, do you celebrate graduation open houses? Addendum: (If so,) how many open houses/bridal showers/weddings are on your upcoming events calendar? I don't think we do, I don't know if we do in our region, huh. . .Guess I'll have to go find out.
4. Tell me one truth you believe about motherhood. I'm not in motherhood yet, so I won't answer this question.
5. What was the last thing you broke? An egg. . . .Seriously? A Sam Adams Beer Glass while cleaning the dishes. Thus why I think that we should go to paper plates (sorry earth) until we get a dishwasher!
6. On average, how many pieces of junk mail do you receive daily? In my email way to much to even count, in the mail mail well at least 3
7. Do you like to shop by catalog? Some times, I never buy from catalog because sizing is what gets me, so I always need to go to the store, just to make sure it fits and it looks nice on me.
8. Is lawn maintenance at your house a "his job," a "her job" or "his/her job" or "that's why we have teenagers" job? It's a "brother job". . .We have a push mower and since I already have a job job I gave J the joy of mowing the lawn for $20, he's happy on that note.
9. Which room would you like to redecorate in your home? My bedroom.
10. Do you read a newspaper regularly, or do you read most of your news on line? I get my news from my email, and I read the local paper when it comes out.
11. Do you believe everything happens for a reason? Yes I do, I believe that God always had a plan for us, and weather we realize it at the time that everything is going to work out, and that what happened did happen for a reason. As mom would say Romans 8:28

28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

12. Are you more worried about doing things right, or doing the right things? Doing things right, I need to be perfect! I have to be perfect, or else I don't let myself down, I'll let other people down so I need to do things right, kind of like how I should be making my flier for the story time prettier.

Mother's Day Sale and New Cell Phone!!

So yesterday on our way home from Pleasant Valley, CT we stopped at the Holyoke Mall in Holyoke, MA to get my cell phone! See I've always wanted a cell phone, and since dad has always had Nextel/Sprint, I had to  get a Nextel cell phone! So at the mall, there was a Nextel Kioisk, and not only was dad able to renew his exsisting Nextel contract, but my mom and I were both able to get a new Motorola Clutch and a family plan (only about $70.00 for 700 minutes).

Even though it took about 3 hours to do everything, the guy that was helping us was very nice, and I liked him! I would deffiently stay as a Nextel costumer. . Also for every mother out there Sprint/Nextel is having a Mother's Day Sale! So go buy a new phone ;)

My Really Awesome Teachers with The Really Awesome Flashback

Tell us about the teachers from your school days. Who were your favorites? Why did you like them? How did they influence your life, your occupation, or another aspect? Have you ever gone back & seen or contacted a favorite teacher to express your appreciation? Do you still keep up with any of your teachers? Was Teacher Appreciation Day/Week celebrated when you were in school? (Just share about favorites this week; we'll visit the not-so-stellar teacher memories another day!)

Okay, I have to say I only have had two teachers that tought me in school. But I did have Sunday School teachers do they count? I loved both of the teachers that I had in public school, for Kindergarten I had Mrs. Foreman, who was amazing and she let us play in the sand box ;) I actually have seen Mrs. Foreman a couple years ago while babysitting at the school playground! Then for first and second grade I had Mizz B. Mizz B. was amazing and played the guitar almost daily for the class, she also helped me with my spelling (which I'm still bad at) and was really awesome! After second grade, my mom pulled me out of school and homeschooled me, so I've been homeschooled since!

Sunday School! One of the funner reasons at the time to go to church! My favorite teacher (and still is) is Mrs. Smiles (I love her last name don't you?)!! Mrs. Smiles well always smiles, she was also very nice, and was a great teacher for sixth grade. I still love when I visit my CT hometown and get to see Mrs. Smiles she is just amazing!! Mrs. Smiles also helped me with my last big decision (I know not everyone reads my blog, so to read my last big decision click HERE!). Mrs. Smiles was on the KY trip with the church, and she was Catholic, so she and I took a walk and I talked about why/why not I shouldn't go to Catholic School, Public School, or stay homeschooled. Mrs. Smiles helped me and told me why she is now Congregationalist, and it helped me a lot with my decision. Another favorite for church was the minister E, E taught confirmation class and is a walking encyclopedia (a good thing for confirmation class, not a good thing for math class)! Not only did E teach with his knowledge, but he also made me think about going into ministry, even though I no longer want to go that way in life, being a minister will always seem cool to me thanks to E!

I don't remember celebrating Teach Appreciation, but I would always get my teachers something at the end of the school year just to thank them for putting up with me :)

Enjoied my flashback (not that it went back so far)? Well check out Linda's blog Mocha with Linda and write your own flashback!!

Nomar Garciaparra

Nomar Garciaparra the Shot Stop for the Boston Red Sox retired today at 7:00. Nomar was (and still is) my favorite Red Sox player! Nomar is also my first Red Sox jersey that I owned!

Nomar is still my favorite and this post is dedicated to all the hardwork that he has put in!

Cae ♥

P.S. He signed a 3 day contract this year with the Red Sox, so he retired with the Red Sox being the last team he ever played for.

Random Life, Random Dozen!

1. What was the last thing about which you procrastinated? Last thing, I still am!! I'm trying to write an article to my paper about what a library should be, but with the current library stuff it's hard for me not to write names!! So I'm kind of putting that article off :(

2. How long does it take you to fall asleep, and do you sleep through the night?
It depends how long it takes me to fall asleep, it depends on what I did for the day, how much I slept the night before, how many cups of coffee I consumed, and for the most part I sleep through the night baring any weird dreams, false fire alarms, or anything else.

3. Which decade would you choose to exemplify your favorite fashion styles?
I like this decades styles, just because I'm a teenager and I don't remember the ones before me ☺ I have to say the 60s were really cool.

4. What is your personal best dish to feed a crowd? A crowd? Like a lot of people? Well hmmm, I can't think of one, actually I can make Apple Crisp, but if that doesn't count. I can make a mean Fettichini Alfredo with Pea and Ham for dinner guests!

5. Are you an impulse shopper?
What was the last thing you bought on impulse? No usually, probably my purse, which I bought at a Marshall's, and I could of bought a cheeper one, but stupidily I watned the brand name! Note to self: Don't buy brand name, yes the name looks cute, but think of how many hours you worked to buy that purse!

6. What is one wish you have for your own funeral?
I would say to have everyone be happy and not to grieve over me, but knowing my family they heal better after they grieve. To invite my librarians and current board, because they are amazing and deserve to come, and also to have a shadow box which includes everything I love, pictures of people I loved, books, horses, animals, the library, clothes, shoes, etc.

7. If it's true that joy is in found in the simple things in life, what does your joy look like today?
Reading, walking, emailing Mrs. T, and work ☺

8. What is your favorite type of bread?
White bread or Cinnamon Raisin Bread

9. What trait do you fear developing the most? (Laziness, greediness, grumpiness, etc.)
I would have to say grumpiness, I don't like grumpy people, and if I ever turn into one I give my friends and family full permission to do something about it!

10. What trait would you like most to develop?
Spelling count as a trait? I would want to be nicer to my brother.

11. Which room in your house best reflects your personality? Why?
My bed room, because it has everything I love in it! It has my piano and sheet music, books, pictures of friends and family, horse models, and it has my accomplishments all over the room, Oh and there are quotes all over my wall :)

12. How do you maintain balance in your life regarding, work, family, church, other organizations and activities, and blogging? Um, Lid can you see my blog isn't as active as yours. . .I wish I knew because I'm starting to feel bad for my blog, since I no longer find time to blog, and when I do have time to blog it's blogging for my library and not for this one, and if the library blog is done, then I don't have a post for this one! How my mom can accomplish living like this I have no clue, because I need coffee to help me through my daily life!

Birthday Gifts

So I spent my morning runing errands with my boss, aka Mrs. T on here. She is more than a second mother to me, she is a God sent angel in my life! So her birthday is coming up, and I have no clue what to get her! So while on our errands today I had to ask her what she wanted. The first time she said she wanted 1 million unmarked dollars, the second time she said "Cae, I don't want anything". Now if I listened to her and if she listened to me I wouldn't get any anything, BUT Mrs. T doesn't listen to me when I say that I don't want anything, so I'm not going to listen to her! So I asked her again! She then said nail polish! So I'm going to deposit my paycheck and I will go and buy some cool nail polish colors, which she told me she likes. And maybe I'll get her a flower or two.

Playing with Lemon Cheesecake

So I made Lemon Cheesecake last night for my grandparents. Sounds easy right? Wrong! I deicded to not follow the recipie (don't reccomend it), but it was too late to start a whole new dessert, so we went with it. And it came out pretty good, I think I did a great job messing dessert up :)

Crust
2 cups Honey Maid Grahams Crackers Crumbs, 13.5-Ounce Units (Pack of 12)
1/4 cup Domino Premium Pure Cane Sugar 5Lb Bag
1/2 cup butter, melted (around 45 seconds in the micro)

Filling
4 packages (8 oz. each) cream cheese, softened
1 1/4 cups sugar
1 package (3 oz.) lemon gelatin
1 package (2.9 oz) cook-and-serve lemon pudding mix
1 teaspoon lemon extract
5 eggs, lightly beaten

In a small bowl, combine cracker crumbs, sugar, and butter. Press onto the bottom and 1 in. up the sides of a greased 13in x 9 in x 2in baking dish.

In a large mixing bowl, beat cream cheese and sugar until smooth (If using an electric mixer speed 4 for about 3-4 minutes). Add pudding and lemon extract; beat 3 minutes longer. Add eggs; beat low speed until combined. Add gelatin and beat for a couple more minutes.

Pour into crust. Bake at 325 for 30-40 minutes (it was only about 30 for me) or until center is almost set. Cool on a wire rack for about 30 minutes. Refrigrate overnight*.

*Okay, since we were in a time crunch I threw it into the freezer for 1 hour, and then put it in the fridge until the dessert

It came out very well, and the mess up was no longer a mess up, it was a creation!
