Growing Up To Fast?

I have to say, I've always been the more responsible out of my age group, even above my age group. I would go to Kentucky with my church, the teenagers would be at the bonfire, I would want to be reading my book. I would be on the Confirmation Retreat with my church, the teenagers would make comments about who's the hottest boy at the retreat, I would want to actually pay attention to what the adult was saying. Most of the teenagers would call adults by there first name, I'm trying to change that for me, I know call all of my adult friends Mrs., Ms., or Mr., very rarely do I call them by their first name, unless they want me to.

Just recently I was decorating a poster board for a story time that I'm putting on and let's just say that I'm not the most creative person out there. The director of the library Mrs. T, asked me where my creativty was, and that I needed to embrace my inner child. Since then I've been thinking, maybe I do need to embrace my inner-child, maybe I need to realize that I grew up a little too fast, I didn't enjoy my life as a child as an actual child, I cared too much about making money, wanting to buy a CD (Certificate of Deposit), what stock to invest in, politics, reading, nothing like Barbies, ponies (ok well I did care about ponies), my hair, dresses, etc. So I've made myself a reselution with my birthday coming up, I'm going to spend the next year, embracing my inner-child, I'm going to do the stuff that I should have never let go, I'll still be mature, but I'm not going to be overly mature, and grown up. Maybe I should just give myself some time to have fun, and not worry about money, the economy, homework, politics, political issues, and stuff like that. Maybe I should keep them in mind, but shouldn't keep them in my way to prevent me having a life as a kid. So from now on, I'm going to embrace my inner-child, and maybe you'll just recognize the change, maybe you wont, or maybe to recognize the change you need to embrace your inner-child also.

It's Complete!

I finished my novel, well not complete we (mom and I) need to edit it and I need to send it into some publishers, but on the writing aspect it's all done. I finished it with 205 pages a little over 90,000 words, and a feel of accomplishment. When I started this novel/memoir I never thought of having it get so long, I've never written over 100 pages, so why would I think that I would write a novel, that I could possibly publish? It was mainly started because I was moving, and I didn't want to move. One of the easy things that I've found with writing this novel, is that when you're writing about stuff and feelings that you've had makes it easier, but when you go into areas, like college, that you haven't experienced then you go into the "fiction" part, and it is very hard to do! But all 205 pages are written. For my Languge Arts we're doing letters, so instead of writing some letter to some invisible company, mom (aka: my teacher) said that I should write the cover letter to publishers, so I can kill two birds with one stone. I am now trying to find publishers that would work with Young Adults, and Young Adult books, so if any of you know of one in the New England area, and would like to let me know, that would be great, as an author it would be greatly appreciated.

Since you listened to me talk about the book, I'll post a page up for you guys. It's from the section 11 Months Before

I wake up and find some warm clothes to stay in, since it is too cold in the morning to wear a dress at the time of the sunrise service. We get there a little bit before the service starts, and I am wrapped up in my blanket because it is just way too cold to be out here. Robyn comes over and you can just look at her and she looks like she is cold.

“ROBYN! I am cold! I say and I run over her and she takes an edge of my blanket and now it is the both of us under the blanket, which I do not mind, she’ll keep me warmer then Rachel and her younger sister Victoria come over, and they get under my blanket, so it is the four of us under this little pink blanket keeping each other warm, it was fun, the service ended and we said goodbye. My family and I went back to our church, to eat breakfast at the Fellowship Hall, which the Deacons made for us. We finished, and helped clean up the kitchen and everything. We went back home, and packed up dad’s truck, and then we went off to go back up to Massachusetts today. We finished unpacking, cleaning the U-Haul©, and dropped it off. We then went to my grandmother’s house, so we could have some Easter dinner, with her. After dinner, I fell asleep on the car ride back home. Thursday I went to the library, and mom to Bible Study. The Librarians got me a little gift together and everything, it was cute, I have been volunteering at the library for a while now, and I have always enjoyed it. The librarian joked, that in my new town that I am moving too, that the librarians over there, will not know what hit them, and that they will half to change their hours, to normal hours, no 3 hour days! I started laughing, it was funny, but also sad at the same time, I did not want to leave them. I did all the DVD’s, Video’s, CDs, and Books on Tape within 45 minutes. I walked around the library, started reading a short book, when one of the librarians came out.

“Caelyn, do you want to punch these new cards out?” The librarian asked me, see the library just got new cards, and well you need to punch them out a way, because you want the patron to take out the card, and the key chain card, not you. I started, and then I saw my mom, I figured I could finish these up. Mom came over and asked if I needed help, I said sure, and we worked on them, I was doing 3-5 sheets at one time, and she was doing like 1-2 sheets a time, but I understand the first time I did this, that is what I did when I started, because you would think that it would be easier, but no it is not, and plus this way it shortens the length of time. Once we finished I brought all the cards back to the librarian, and said goodbye, for my last time, and this time I did not get any books out….It must have been a first, to leave a library, and not take any books out. I got into the car, and we went to the little restaurant in Durham, most of the Bible Study people where there, we were just waiting for Elven. Once Elven showed up we all ordered and talked about Bible Study, and moving, I would prefer the Bible Study subject, but you cannot avoid it sadly. The number one question that I got was “So are you going to school there?” I get it all the time considering I am homeschooled, I even got it when I wasn’t moving, and it is really annoying, to answer this question, see I really want to go to public school, but then part of me wants to stay homeschooled, because I could excel at a high pace, so it is a really hard question to answer. Elven asked how mom was doing on her sermon for this Sunday, See Elven asked my mom to do the sermon this Sunday since it is out last Sunday in Durham.

The Patron Saint of Butterflies by Cecilia Galante

The Patron Saint of Butterflies by Cecilia Galante

This book is about, friendship, love, and religion. Two girls are best of friends, and in this world on religion, you need to be careful for what you do, because it just might be a sin, and you don't want to know what happens when you sin. The Patron Saint of Butterflies, is a great book, very easy read, and I couldn't put it down. It deals with 'real life' issues, but puts the issues into a twist.

Are you ready to test a friendship?

Fixing Something That you Broke!

Okay, so yesterday I posted a blog complaining about Comcast, and how they broke my internet. I was then prompted with a blog comment, saying that they were sorry for the inconvenience, and that they will gladly help fix it. So I responded to them through my email and my dad talked to them for a little bit. I was surprised on what they did, they actually fixed my internet. The Comcast guy, Todd, who lives down the street came this morning to fix the internet. I have to say Thanks Comcast for your responding to my emails and fixing my internet, you have no idea how much your response did for me, once I move out you will have a new customer, and my family will continue using Comcast. The responses in the email and talking to my dad on the phone, helped us tremendously, and then sending a tech out today was wonderful!

Thank you Comcast for everything you did yesterday, and fixing my internet today!

Don't Fix It, Unless It's Broken!!!!

Okay, so Comcast showed up last week, and told me that there was something wrong with our cable box thingy, (I didn't really listen, I'm a teenager what do you expect?!), so they set up a date to come out and "fix" this so called "problem" that we didn't have. The people from Comcast on the phone, and even the tech. that Comcast sent out all asked mom, what the "problem" was, she would say that she DIDN'T contact Comcast for this issue THEY DID! So Comcast came out yesterday, and were fixing it, after the item was "fixed" he checked the phone to make sure it was working, Yup the phone is working, the cable working? Yup all the TVs are working.

The internet working? Nope, why would you check that? That would be ubsured if you checked the internet, with two teenagers in the house, who would want to use the internet? Well so Comcast dude left, and me, Dear Daughter to you guys, went to check her email, I was expecting some emails, and guess what? The internet didn't work! I was soooo upset, how could Comcast come out and "fix" something that was never BROKEN?! Okay, so the internet a lovely little thing, that you guys use for your blogs and to read this thing, that is a blog, but I don't know if it really qualifies, I use it for WORK, got that WORK!! How the heck am I supposed to check my email, when my internet doesn't work?! Ya, so I don't have an answer to that question yet, so I've been using the internet at my dad's work, which is where I am now, and luckily there is an unsecured wireless internet in the area, we don't connect to it unless we have to, but sometimes duty calls, like checking email for WORK! So mom is trying to get Comcast back out here, but they broken my INTERNET! What is wrong with them? Didn't they ever hear of the quote, well I think it's a quote
"Don't fix it, unless it's broken"

Okay, so I'm going to appologize to anyone, who made it through this long painful blog about me all mad at Comcast, sorry :) but it's annoying, so if the internet doesn't get fixed anytime soon, there won't be that many posts made by me.

Love ♥ Dear Daughter

P.S. Donnanet, thank you for letting us use your internet for a little, sorry that we're using it, I'm in the work of yelling at Comcast!

Random Dozen

Who thinks that I should change the name for all the Random Dozens that I do? Well any hints? Clearly Linda from 2nd Cup of Coffee, thinks of wonderful names, but then for those that come here all you read is "Random Dozen"

1. So I was thinking about how Jon Bon Jovi never seems to age much. His hair is smaller nowadays, but he still manages to look like a boy somehow. And then that made me think of the story of Dorian Gray. Question: If you physically lock in one age for yourself, which would you choose and why? I don't know, since I haven't made it to 20 yet, I don't know the ages, I defiantly wouldn't choose a teenager!

2. What is the best dish that you cook or bake (your piece de resistance?) Fettuccine Alfredo with peas and ham.

3. When you feel blue, what is one strategy you use to help yourself back to normal? Listen to music, take a long hot shower, read, or just spend some time with friends.

4. When was the last time you danced in public? Ummmmm I tend to find myself dancing in the library when I'm looking for books that are on hold, to a song that's been stuck in my head all day ;)

5. Do you consider yourself a realist or dreamer? Realist

6. As a parent, what is one thing that you have done well? Um, since I'm not a parent yet, nothing

7. Which is your favorite character on the Andy Griffith show? I've heard of the show, but I haven't seen it.

8. On a scale of 1-10, how much do you know about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.? About a 5

9. Have you never been mellow? Have you never tried … to find a comfort from in side you? (Sorry, Jorge was singing that song just now, and it just seemed to be perfect timing as I was creating this week’s questions.) REAL question: What is your #1 driving pet peeve? Bad grammar!

10. Which color best represents your mood today? Care to elaborate? Blue and White, the true republican colors for the senate election today!

11. If your spouse were an animal, which would he/she be? I don't have a spouse!

12. What activity takes up the bulk of your time on an average day?Homework, Facebook, Email, Work, My Novel

Writing, Working, and Weekend!

Well, I've been on a complete "forget about blog" moment, and it doesn't help that I'm half awake at 4:31 in the afternoon.
Writing, The past couple months, since I moved I've been writing a novel, well actually a fictitious memoir, but novel for short. This novel is about me moving and it's come to be almost done, the only issue, is how to end it! Part of me wants to end it, so I could start a sequel, but the other part, is "You know how hard it is to write a 200 page book, why do you want to do it again?!" Have any hints?

Working!! Okay, so I don't get paid- - -YET! I've been working at the library since May, and now that I'm a librarian the child labor laws come in effect, since the director is trying to get me a paid position, just for an hour or to, so I could take my Basic Library Technicians (B.L.T).

Weekend, okay, so I was trying to think of another "W" for the title, and since it's almost the weekend, well not really, I figured I would use "Weekend" the past couple weekends have been filled with basketball games, church, meetings, movies, and reading. What do you do on the weekend?

Boys are Dogs by Leslie Margolis

Boys are Dogs by Leslie Margolis

Boys are Dogs is a comical book. A middle school girl, Annabel, moves from her town into a new town, to live with her mom's boyfriend. Annabel get a new puppy and starts training her dog, Pepper. At Annabel's new school she gets made fun of daily, and finally figures out that boys are like dogs, and she starts training the boys. This book was very good. I have to say, I did not read this book, I was testing out the digital audio-books, that the company my library uses just launched. If you do go for the Book on CD way, the book is read very well.

Are you ready for some training?

The Art of Racing in the Rain

The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein

The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein is a book based off of a dogs point of view of his master's, Denny, life. The book is full of love, heartbreak, in-laws, death, and of course the relationship between a dog and a man.

I have to say at the end, I was crying, and I do not cry when I read books, it is actually the first book that I cried while reading!

Do you have a box of tissues next to you?

The Law-Funny ;)

THE LAW IS THE LAW!
I really love this one. It's one of the better e-mails I have received in a long time! I hope this makes its way around the
USA several times over!!!!! So Be It!

THE LAW IS THE LAW

So "if" the US government determines that it is against the
law for the words "under God" to be on our money, then, so be it.

And "if" that same government decides that the
"Ten Commandments" are not to be used in or on a government installation, then, so be it.

I say,
"so be it," because I would like to be a law abiding US citizen.

I say,
"so be it," because I would like to think that smarter people than I are in positions to make good decisions.

I would like to think that those people have the
American public's best interests at heart.

BUT, YOU KNOW WHAT ELSE I'D LIKE?

Since we can't pray to God, can't Trust in God and cannot post His Commandments in Government buildings
, I don't believe the Government and its employees should participate in the Easter and Christmas celebrations which honor the God that our government is eliminating from many facets of American life.

I'd like my
mail delivered on Christmas, Good Friday, Thanksgiving & Easter. After all, it's just another day.

I'd like the
" US Supreme Court to be in session on Christmas, Good Friday, Thanksgiving & Easter as well as Sundays." After all, it's just another day.

I'd like the
Senate and the House of Representatives to not have to worry about getting home for the "Christmas Break." After all it's just another day.

I'm thinking that a lot of
my taxpayer dollars could be saved, if all government offices & services would work on Christmas, Good Friday & Easter. It shouldn't cost any overtime since those would be just like any other day of the week to a government that is trying to be "politically correct."

In fact ...

I think that
our government should work on Sundays (initially set aside for worshipping God...) because, after all, our government says that it should be just another day ...

What do you all think????

If this idea gets to enough people,
maybe our elected officials will stop giving in to the "minority opinions" and begin, once again, to represent the "majority" of ALL of the American people.

SO BE IT...

Please Dear Lord,
Give us the help needed to keep you in our country!
'Amen' and 'Amen'

Touché!

These are definitely things I never thought about but from now on, I will be sure to question those in government who support these changes.

At the top, it says
"I hope this makes its way around these several times over!!!!!"

Let's see that it does.

What Happend to Sunday?

As a small kid, I remember Sunday was always church, you always went to church, nothing would make church an conflict, because it just wouldn't be right, but now 10 years later everything happens during church or shortly after church. Yes I realize everyone is not Christian, but think of how many there are, think of how many children you are pulling away from learning about God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. The number would be countless, we had good friends who did football in the old town, want to know when their games where? Yes, you are correct on Sunday mornings. The issue was that these good friends were very religious, and they also believe you put 110% into what you're doing, so their boys were always at their games, and they would show up at church after (if there was time). Now with a foster child, he does basketball. I have to say I applaud to the coaches for not making the games right during church service, but the one today it at 12:30, it's a 45 minute drive from our church to the game, and our church ends at 11:30, and I have a volunteer job.

Sunday's are no longer church, early dinner with family, then praying. It's running around, busy schedules, sometimes even missing church, stopping at a McDonald's for dinner, and going straight to bed once you get home.

So I'll ask once again.

What Happened to Sunday?

Just Listen by Sarah Dessen

Just listen by Sarah Dessen, is a book about friendships in highschool, and how one day you'll have a friend, and the next you don't. The book deals with rumors, eating disorders, and the pressure a teenage model has, when she doesn't want to model, but it's the only thing keeping her mother sane.

It is all about heartbreaks, hardships, and friendships.
It's your Senior Year, are you ready?
