Speed Dial 3

As you all know S has been a second mother to me for a while now, and today I finally realized how nice it is to have a 2nd mother, or that person who is 3 on your speed dial. Today there were some problems with Bro #2, and they were pretty big problems, so I went outside, I had to take a breather and possibly go on a walk. Well the way this problem started, could have been avoided by me, and I guess I'm a little stubborn, so I didn't really realize what was going to come next.

Well I finally went on a walk, after I grabbed my flip flops, and I just had to talk to someone, that someone turned out to be S. I knew I would talk to Mom & Dad about it, and Bro #1 had no clue what just happened, so I told him. So on my walk, when I got into cell coverage I decided to give S a call, just to see if I could get a hug. It turned our S and her hubby, A, were going out to the store, so I couldn't get my hug, but S and I talked and she really did help me. Sure I broke down in tears on my phone, standing on the side of the road, but she's amazing. S listened to me, and helped me a lot. S is really a second mother, and is my #3 on my speed dial.

I think everyone should have an S in their life, someone to fill that #3 on their speed dial. Because you don't know when you're going to need that speed dial #3

Quotes

So for my Girl Scout Gold Award, I'm working on the Home Improvement I.P. and I have to refurbish a piece of furniture, so I bought a corner table at a local flea market, and have been working on it. Well I finally got the first coat of paint on it, and have the plan in my head. It's going to have a quote on the top, and a quote around the bottom of the top, see the flat part? Well I have one quote chosen, Romans 8:28, but I still need another quote, and it's so hard for me to choose one quote, because I love them all! So any suggestions?

I'm going to write the quote in a metallic gold, which will accent the gold stars on the accent wall, which is a dark purple. I'll upload the pictures when everything is completed.

Summer Flashback

Has it been one week already?? Well it must have, since today a new Flashback Friday from Mocha with Linda! Today, I can actually do a rough Flashback.

This weeks prompt:
What were summers like when you were a kid? Did your family have any particular traditions? Did you sleep 'til noon or get up early? Did you attend camps? Spend lots of time at the pool? Was it a neighborhood pool or in your backyard? Did you take swimming lessons? Did you live near a beach? (And do you call it the beach or the coast?!) Did you attend VBS (Vacation Bible School)? Did your library have a reading program that you participated in? What types of prizes were available? Did you get to buy treats from the ice cream truck? Did your family go on vacations? If so, what is a memorable one? Do you associate any particular songs with summer?

The summer, let's see, there was a family cottage, which we would always rent for two weeks at Hawk's Nest Beach. We've always had a cottage at Hawk's Nest, for God know how long. We have stayed in the same cottage since '38, and before then we stayed at another cottage, which was taken out by the '38 hurricane. I would always find a pool to swim in, my grandfather and uncle owned pools, but my family never did. We also had two close friends that had pools, and we were there almost daily by invitation. Summer camp was here and there, I did Girl Scout camp once or twice and a 4-H camp one summer, but the one major summer vacation was the two week trip in Kentucky. My old church takes one week down in eastern KY, and build houses with LINKS. My family would leave before the church left and go and stop through states. We've stopped in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. I always loved working in Kentucky, so when I was allowed to go by myself last year, it was great! Although I went down with the church, it was still amazing!

Songs with Summertime, of course!! These are my two favorites!

Brunet Hair For Life

For those that don't know, I'm a brunet, and for the past year I've been contemplating dyeing it or putting some type of highlights in my hair, a nice cute blonde color. Well I need to be a Strawberry Blonde for the play I'm in, and I went to my local hair studio and talked to the owner, now I've been warned by S to only let Sh touch your hair. But I ignored S, and told K what I needed done. So K asked if she could test some washable stuff on me, I said sure. . .Let's just say I wasn't the hottest person out there. I walked into the library, and S started laughing hystarically. . .She thought it was so funny, and I gave her full permission to laugh, since I didn't listen to her warning. I got most of the color out, and covered what ever part on my skin with some cover-up. Once I got home (this all happened before work) I took a shower, and it only took me three washes to get everything out!

I have now given up on dyeing my hair, I love my brunet hair, and I can't believe I ever thought of dyeing it.

I will not dye my hair until it's covering gray hair's up, and let's hope that that isn't for a long long long time!

Random Dozen

This weeks Random Dozen from 2nd Cup of Coffee is going to be a lot more easy than last weeks!

1. Would you rather host party or simply attend a party? It would of course depend on the party, I would love to host a Kentucky Derby Party and make Mint Juleps and everything, but like Birthday Parties are just too much work every year, so I would just attend those.

2. Tell us about the most memorable party you've been to. Hmmm, I need to think about this one a little bit more ;)

3. What is one thing you hope for in the after-life? Books, A lot of book, and maybe some music, and maybe a piano! Oops, didn't read the word "one" again. Sorry Lid ;)

4. What do you enjoy most about sunshine? The sunny part of it? I just like the sunshine, I like the whole idea of reading my book out in the sunshine!

5. When you attend a bridal/baby shower, do you prefer to bring your own gift or chip in with others to buy a larger gift? It depends, it the Bride/Soon-to-be Mom has most of the stuff and she wants the one large item, then I'll chip in, but if not I buy my own gift.

6. Would you rather have a FREE week of having your house cleaned or all of your meals cooked for you and your family? I like cooking, so I could choose having my house cleaned, because cleaning is all a drag!

7. What song describes your mood today? I don't know, it's too early. Happy maybe, excited to go to work today :D Oh SONG!!! Probably Ave Maria

8. What is something you received for your own bridal shower/wedding that you still own or use? (If you are not married, feel free to sub a gift you received a long time ago.) Bun Bun! I got this stuffed bunny years ago (I'll upload a picture after work) She only has one ear, and I had to sew the other whole of where the ear used to be, and she is White and Black, and she is my Bun Bun!

9. Your favorite flavor of ice cream is? Phish Food from Ben & Jerry's or maybe American Pie, from Ben & Jerry's

10. When was the last time you felt "tested?" This morning, when someone was testing temporary hair dye on my hair, I'll write a blog after I do this one :)

11. "[Fill in the blank] is a food that once I start eating I find really hard to stop." Pistachios, as one of my favorite NCIS characters, Abby Schotio, say "Have you ever eaten just one pistachio?!"

12. "-----" is the best motivation. My Favorite Things from the Sound of Music

No Cream, No Coffee!

So as you all know, I am an avid coffee drinker, and recently someone *cough cough* mom *cough cough* has been using all the coffee cream! Now, I don't know how you all drink your coffee, but I need flavored CREAM!! I have to have flavored cream! If I don't have my flavored cream, then I can't drink my coffee, although when I order my coffee from somewhere, I don't need flavored cream, just becuase, but ughhhh no coffee in my system is like, okay I can't think of something to compare it with.

Coffee = Brains for Cae, No Coffee = Brainless Cae, so how do you drink your coffe? Do you even drink coffee?

Lots of Love

Church Membership

As you all know, I was confirmed last year a couple weeks before I moved. Well its been a little over a year with my family in the new church. Well evidently my father (who is still a member of an Episcopal church, which he last went to a service as a young child) asked Rev. L what it would take to move the WHOLE families membership up. I don't hate the church up here, but leaving my old church, MY church, would be like leaving my hometown, if that makes sense. Its been pretty easy to find a new library, and to make new friends, to make MA a hometown, to make my house a home, but to leave MY church in CT, its the only thing left that I have of my old hometown, which its hard to explain how it feels, especially for me. But as I'm reading the by-laws, I can be a partial member, but I wouldn't have any voting power. I want to be part of this church up here, since I'm already so active in it, but I don't want to leave MY church, I don't want to lose that last piece of MY town.

I don't really know what to do, and I think that to be faced with this decision, is tough. Have you had the same problem? If, so what made you change, or not change? Any hints would be great.

Lots of Love,
The Slightly Confused Congregationalist aka Cae ♥
